A cool new jailbreak tweak called iOS MiniPlayer that is in the works.
The tweak as the name suggests has been inspired by iTunes 11’s mini player, is being developed by (as well as conceptualized by) Siriflow and Smartviper. Sentry – UI designer behind Auxo – my favorite jailbreak tweak of 2012 has designed the app. They’ve just released a teaser video of the concept.
The jailbreak tweak, which appears to be a custom widget, aims to give users quick and easy access to playback controls from anywhere in the iOS.
The custom widget will display the album art and the info of the song currently playing. When you tap on the widget, it will provide playback controls, which will allow you to play/pause, fast forward and rewind a song.
It’s not clear from the video, but it looks like you will be able to access the mini player using an Activator action and not the Notification Center, allowing you to access it from anywhere in the iOS and dismiss it by swiping from left to the right.
There have been jailbreak tweaks like Music Center that have brought music controls to the Notification Center, giving users quick and easy access to the playback controls from anywhere in the iOS, but this is the best custom widget we’ve seen so far and I like the idea of accessing it using an Activator action rather than Notification Center.
Check out the teaser video of the jailbreak tweak below:
It would be pretty cool if the developers can also add search options to the custom widget like the iTunes 11 mini player.
The tweak will be available for the iPhone and iPad, but there is no release date for it yet. We’ll let you know as soon as it is released.
Let me know what you think of this upcoming jailbreak tweak in the comments.
