Here’s What iPhone 5S And Cheaper iPhone Could Look Like

According to rumors and speculations so far, the next generation iPhone, unofficially dubbed iPhone 5S will look similar to the iPhone 5, but come with a faster A7 system-on-chip, a fingerprint sensor, improved camera and possibly in multiple colors.

Designer Martin uit Utrecht, who created some amazing 3D renderings of the iPhone 5 based on the leaked parts, has created 3D renderings of the iPhone 5S based on these rumors and also a low-cost iPhone 5, dubbed iPhone 5 mini with a 3.5-inch screen, slightly thicker but with the design language of iPhone 5.

Frankly, we would be disappointed if the next generation iPhone looks like the iPhone 5. We really hope that Apple launches a completely redesigned 7th generation iPhone and hopefully with a bigger screen.

Check out this post to see the amazing renderings of the iPad 5 with the thinner bezel and with the same design language as the iPad mini created by Utrecht.

“We really hope that Apple launches a completely redesigned 7th generation iPhone and hopefully with a bigger screen.”

    >Completely redesigned
Pointless if there’s no actual function-based reason for doing so, but definitely possible.

    >Bigger screen
After they just changed it with the iPhone 5? Some developers are still catching up to the 4″ screen. Apple will not risk even more fragmentation. As it is now, developers only need to change the vertical resolution of their applications; increasing the screen size more would necessitate changes to the horizontal resolution as well. Developers would have to support yet another screen size.
They might be worried about sales and say “f*** the problems; we’ll put in a bigger screen,” but it’s very, very unlikely.

When I briefly used the Samsung Nexus, the thing that I really liked was the bigger screen.

Most of the folks I talk to, tell me that one of the reasons for switching to Android was because they found iPhone’s screen too small.

I do think Apple missed the bus by not increasing the width of the screen. So it will make the decision of increasing the screen size again even more difficult. But that is what customers want, and I think Apple is leaving the door open for Android based smartphones by not catering to this requirement.

  • Ummmm da dum

    I don’t want a bigger screen. It’s a phone not a tablet. Only reason I haven’t upgraded my 4s for a 5 is because of the screen.
Plus I want Abit more creative design than just increase screen size. 5 just looks like a stretched 4/4s.
Major draw back of iPhone now is ios. With no jailbreak anytime soon the os is becoming Abit dated and boring. Needs a new section in AppStore just for tweaks, themes etc like cydia.

    1. They aren’t making a cheaper iPhone.
    2. They won’t make a simple color change on the new iPhone.

“Frankly, we would be disappointed if the next generation iPhone looks like the iPhone 5″.

This is exactly what everyone said about the iPhone 4S, and it still sold like hotcakes. Apple have historically (admittedly based on a small sample size) kept the external form factor pretty much identical for two generations at a time, so I would expect the “iPhone 5S” is going to look virtually identical to the iPhone 5 with the guts of it upgraded.

It makes sense from a manufacturing perspective anyway, why change it every iteration if you can do it every second and save on tooling and development?

Whilst I’m still on the fence re the iPhone mini rumours, I still think they’ll use the iPhone 3GS or 4 shape if it happens, it’s not going to be a completely new design.
