Best iPhone Jailbreak Apps & Tweaks For iOS 6

Cydia

It’s been almost three weeks since evasi0n jailbreak for iOS 6 or later and the newer iOS devices like the iPhone 5, iPad 4, iPad mini etc.

Cydia developers have done a great job in releasing updates for the tweaks to add support for iOS 6 and iPhone 5, So I thought it was a good idea to revisit the best iPhone jailbreak apps and tweaks for iOS 6.

So without wasting much time here are my top 10 jailbreak apps and tweaks that are compatibile with iOS 6 and iPhone 5. Clicking on the download link on your jailbroken iPhone will take you straight to the package on Cydia.

Activator

activator

Activator allows you to invoke actions using shortcuts from anywhere in the iOS. You will be surprised by the number of shortcuts you can use such as double tap on the status bar, triple tap the Home button, double press the sleep button to trigger stock actions or launch an app or go to the Settings toggle. It offers almost limitless shortcuts to make it easier to use your iPhone.

Activator is a must-have jailbreak tweak for power users. We’ll have a follow up article on some of the cool ways to use Activator shortly.

SBSettings

sbsettings

SBSettings offers a faster way to access Settings from any app without going through the hassle of exiting the app and launching the Settings app. Cydia developers can also create custom toggles for SBSettings that can be installed from Cydia, which can then be quickly accessed by users via SBSettings. You can access SBSettings either by swiping on the Status bar or via the Notification Center.

While I know a number of you like NCSettings, which looks really cool, the ability to add any Settings toggle to Notification Center or SBSettings window makes SBSettings my favorite tweak to enable or disable Settings.

WinterBoard enables you to do just that, by allowing you to download custom themes from Cydia, that can be applied to completely change the look and feel of your iOS device.

WinterBoard allows you change the icons, modify`the look and feel of status bar, dock, lock screen, change the font and lots more. You can also customize all kinds of system sound with Winterboard. Another great feature of WinterBoard is the ability to mix & match several themes together.

LockInfo 5

lockinfo5

LockInfo is my favorite jailbreak tweak for the Lock screen. With LockInfo, you can check my emails, access the Twitter feed and easily dismiss notifications from the Lock screen. It makes me a lot more productive (or that is what I think).

LockInfo also gives you give access to your Favorite Contacts and the weather widget on the Lock screen.

IntelliScreenX is another popular jailbreak tweak for the Lock screen, but I prefer LockInfo. It’s not perfect but I really like mail preview functionality in LockInfo. If you’re a Facebook addict then you may like IntelliScreenX.

Note: I’ve used the images from the developer’s website.

The developers have also re-imagined the playback page in the app switcher with improved playback controls, a full-sized album artwork and more details about the song that’s now playing.

you forgot to mention few major tweak which happen to be a game changer too such as: music controls pro, dimmer, quickdo, tempus, infinitytask, folderenhancer, iconoclasm, browseInApp.

    • bdone

i don’t understand why you would want to use precious ram for tweaks that make redundant functionality..ie. music controls pro. you can already open switcher and swipe backwards to control music. infinity task seems like it would murder your battery life and i am already not too happy with my battery life on my iphone 5. i have to charge overnight and then in the middle of the day at some point to make it til i go to bed…instead of browse in app, use appslide. it’s wayy better. the others you have listed, i wouldn’t use, but thanks for some more titles. the more the merrier.

      • Damian W

I am using so many tweaks on my ipad and I still have 600 ram left. The battery is alright, infinitask is really a great tweak that does not murder the battery. Also, if you compare music controls pro to the native switcher then you don’t really know what you are talking about. You are right that music controls are in the switcher, but….they are quite useless. Music Controls Pro is taking the whole experience to a new level, and on top of this it lets you adjust the brighness in an instant without even thinking where to go. Appslide I believe is free so maybe this is why you prefer more than BrowseInApp, but browseInApp works fanatastically so I don’t know what better options has appslide to offer. I will give it a try though. Btw, have you ever tried reading on ipad/iphone in the dark room before you go to sleep? the lowest brightness was still killing my eyes and gave me headaches, dimmer tweak saved me here. So yeah, we all have different needs and I feel like tweaking almost everything in ios is essential as long as I don’t kill memory and battery

        • bdone

I’m getting 557 on respiring…I want to get back to 600, but I can’t figure out which tweak it is. can you send me a list of your mobile substrates so I can compare? msteright@aol.com

right now my iPad 3 ram ranges from 500 to 570 if I dont do anything.

Try using a simple tweak called FreeMemory, it clears the ram to as much as it can. Pretty good solution if there is some memory hog.

          • bdone

Yeah. I’m good then. Everything is completely smooth, I’m just bored and wanted to nitpick to get those last few Mbs. I just paid for icaughtUpro today. The remote features are awesome! Check it out. Still sitting pretty with ram. Waiting for autoappcloser for ios6…then my phone will feel perfect.

  • f8fbearcat

Great article, thanks for taking the time to compile it.

  • http://twitter.com/Sylar3232 Sylar

you missed infinifolder, powermusic miniplayer, ncsettings, killbackground

    • http://profiles.google.com/sebastian.rasch Sebastian Rasch

KillBackground is great, isn’t it? Love it.

  • http://profiles.google.com/sebastian.rasch Sebastian Rasch

For me, the most important tweaks are Browser Changer, FullForce, KillBackground and AdBlocker. And I use a modified host file to block iAds. ;)

    • bdone

how did you modify for iAds?

      • http://profiles.google.com/sebastian.rasch Sebastian Rasch

Remove those files (if there) with CyberDuck or similar (I use Transmit):

        Iad.framework is in: system/library/frameworks
        Iadcore.framework is in: system/library/privateframeworks
        Iadframework.axbundle is in : system/library/accessibilitybundles
        Com.apple.iad.cookiedb is in : private/var/mobile/library/cookies
Adsheet is in : library/application support
        Adsheet.axbundle is in : system/library/accessibilitybundles
        Adsheet.app is in : private/var/stash/applcations.h8xzlx

Replace the hosts file with this one:
        http://www.sinfuliphone.com/showthread.php?t=107743

Works like a charm in most apps. Apparently in some apps they remain, but I have a lot of apps and none of them show iAds anymore.

        • bdone

thanks man, I will try that.

        • http://rounak.me/ Rounak Jain

If you edit the hosts file to block iads, does it also disable the iAd view at the bottom of the screen? Or it still stays there?

          • http://profiles.google.com/sebastian.rasch Sebastian Rasch

That’s done by the removal of the aforementioned files. Doing that removes iAds thoroughly. You have to do both though.

  • crly0n
