As promised, evad3rs dev team has just released evasi0n 1.4 to allow iPhone, iPad and iPod touch users to jailbreak iOS 6.1.2.

Apple had released iOS 6.1.2 to Exchange Calendar bug  earlier today.

Here’s the complete change log for the four versions of evasi0n released by the evad3rs tem this week:

Version 1.4:

  • Support for 6.1.2

Version 1.3:

  • Support for 6.1.1 on the iPhone 4S.

Version 1.2

  • Disable OTA updates.
  • Correct timezone issue in evasi0n binary if client fails to correct it.

Version 1.1

  • prevent Weather app from appearing on iPads.
  • mitigated the long reboot issue.
  • fix issue with not working after connecting multiple iOS devices
  • fix blinking of the jailbreak instructions on OS X.
  • codesigned Mac app.

Version 1.0

  • first public release

evad3rs dev team is recommending users to update to iOS 6.1.2 by doing a full restore using iTunes. However, I’ve noticed that updating your iOS device to iOS 6.1.2 using iTunes should also work as long as you’ve manually taken a backup of your iOS device using iTunes before using the evasi0n tool.

Please note if you’ve jailbroken your iOS device using evasi0n then the OTA update feature is disabled, you will have to update your iOS device to iOS 6.1.2 using iTunes.

Update:

Check out our step-by-step guide on how to jailbreak iOS 6.1.2 with evasi0n 1.4 in case you need any help.

Let us know how it goes in the comments.

Correct me if I’m wrong, I first need to upgrade via iTunes to 6.1.2 which will remove my jailbreak and all my jailbreak tweeks, then I need to re-jailbreak it and then reinstall all my jailbreak tweeks. There’s got to be an easier way, if so please share!

Nope. That’s what you have to do. I recommend using xBackup to save all of your tweaks and settings. It is a lot less painful that way.

Yes, you will lose the jailbreak as well as the jailbreak tweaks you’ve installed after upgrading to iOS 6.1.2.

You can use jailbreak apps like PkgBackup or xBackup that take a backup of the jailbreak tweaks for you, which makes it easy to reinstall them after you have re-jailbroken your iPhone on iOS 6.1.2.

Yeah but it will keep the tweak settings. Meaning if you restore from the back up and then jailbreak but don’t go moving icons around or playing with settings so when u go to Cydia you can install as many tweaks as u want at one time by continue cuing, I like to take screen shots of what tweaks and sources I have installed, so when you install the tweaks you shouldn’t have to play with any of the settings for the tweaks because they will still be their. It’s not really that bad. If you have folder enhancer or something it will put your icons right back the way uou had them before the restore.

Get pkgbakup before you rejailbreak. It will allow you to save it several different ways then once you jailbreak yo install all your pkgs at one time.

  • MOBY

pkg backup or similar free app from cydia

Anyone familiar with AptBackup, is it any good compared to pkgbackup and xBackup? Is it ios 6.1 compatible?

    • tre

I know xbackup was not worth it but pkgbackup works perfect, have not tried aptbackup.
