pod2g: iOS 6.1.1 beta Does Not Fix evasi0n Jailbreak

This should come as a relief to jailbreakers. pod2g has just tweeted that iOS 6.1.1 beta that was seeded to developers does not fix the evasi0n jailbreak.

There were some concerns that iOS 6.1.1 beta will fix the hacks used by the evad3rs dev team to prevent users from jailbreaking their iOS device.

It doesn’t look like Apple has fixed the jailbreak at least in the first beta versions of iOS 6.1.1 that was released to developers yesterday. iOS 6.1.1 includes improvements to Maps app for Japan.

pod2g has however jailbreakers to avoid upgrading to it as evasi0n won’t be able to jailbreak until they add support for it, which will only happen when it is released to the public.

evasi0n jailbreak which was released on Monday was the first jailbreak for newer devices like the iPhone 5, 4th generation iPad and iPad mini. It was also the first untethered jailbreak for iOS 6.x. As of yesterday, it has been used to jailbreak more than 4 million iOS devices.

So it looks like the evad3rs dev team is ahead in the cat and mouse game with Apple at least for now.

I wonder if pod2g comments were wise to make public. They certainly help Apple not the JB comunity

      I agree with you.

It makes no difference, Apple knows how evasi0n works now that it’s public.

They knew the moment they released the tool lol

As Tora has mentioned, evad3rs dev team burned the exploits as soon as they released the jailbreak on Monday as Apple will be able to figure out what was used.

now apple won’t block jb, bc apple knew that no one will buy iphone if can not jb

Stats from flurry suggest the population of jailbroken devices at around 8-9% of the total amount of active devices. This means around 91% do not know or do not care about jail breaking and thus it would not factor into their purchasing decision.

Cnbc which is usually an apple lovefest was really critical of apple and their closed device policies this morning. There is a definite shift towards apple and people are getting tired of their refusal to listen to users so maybe they will let the jailbreak be.

i wonder how many stupid people will update because they think they get new features and that jailbreak last forever.

If Apple wants to retain any sort of market share in the coming Samsung Tsunami, they had better open this shit up faster and easier. THE ONLY reason I stuck with 8 new iphone 5’s was because of impending jailbreak..otherwise, see your a*s later on the GS3.

I’m crossing my fingers for iOS 7. Certainly not “open” but hopefully steals a lot of features from jailbreak apps and tweaks.

I’m writing this on a jailbroken iPod
