Apple Releases iOS 6.1.1 Beta To Developers [Updatedx2]

Apple has just seeded iOS 6.1.1 beta (build 10B311) to developers of iOS developer program.

iOS 6.1.1 beta is available for following iOS devices:

  • iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS
  • iPad 4, iPad 3, iPad 2, iPad mini
  • iPod touch 5G, iPod touch 4G

Apple hasn’t provided much details about the changes and improvements in iOS 6.1.1 beta in the release notes.

It goes without saying, jailbreakers should avoid upgrading to iOS 6.1.1 beta. It remains to be seen if Apple has fixed the loopholes used by evasi0n to jailbreak iOS 6.1/iOS 6, which was released on Monday.

Update 1:

We’ve just got a tip (thanks Alan) that iOS 6.1.1 beta includes improvements to Maps app for Japan. Here are the improvements listed in the release notes:

  • Improved pronunciation of roads during turn-by-turn navigation
  • Optimized directions to more strongly prefer highways over narrower roads
  • Now indicates upcoming toll roads during turn-by-turn navigation
  • Added labels for junctions, interchanges, on-ramps, off-ramps, and intersections
  • Added indicators for transit station buildings, subway lines, and traffic lights
  • Updated freeway color to green
  • Updated icons for some location categories including fire stations, hospitals, and post offices Added 3D buildings including Tokyo Station, Japan Imperial Palace, and Tokyo Tower

Update 2:

iH8sn0w, developer of Sn0wbreeze, points out that there is no expiry date for iOS 6.1.1. Previously, beta versions of iOS firmware included an expiry date, which gave us some idea on when the next beta or public will be available.

We’ll let you know as soon as we have any further updates so stay tuned.

cuz 6.1 has been jailbroken in less than a week!! Apple always leave some sh*t behind never complete their iPhone products! that’s why this company gonna fall!!! F*ck apple IOS updates!! I am gonna stay with 6.1 til I change to a non apple phone!!

      • Zangpakto

Yep… that is why it is one of most successful companies… Why they needed Steve… And leave stuff behind? You clearly don’t understand programming… Ideas constantly flow for updates and some are agreed before release but not enough time for testing… What do you do?

Leave the feature out which ensures a faster release cycle and happier users? Or forever delay the release as you constantly update instead of releasing?….

Apple was waiting to get its hands on the latest jailbreak so they could plug it. Lamers.

Don’t start complaining, I’m sure you’re all on 6.1 and happy with a jailbreak – Most of the things apple implemented can probably be duplicated with a tweak.

evad3rs practically challenged Apple to release 6.1, it’s what everyone wanted, did you ever thing that maybe they received some feedback since release or that maybe it simply wasn’t ready?

You’d do the same in their position, the majority of you will own an Apple product, you paid for these updates.

Who Cares. We All Have Our Lovely Jailbreak On 6.1 So Stop Complaining. Besides How many Of you Actually Need Updated Maps For Japan. Further More how Many Of You even Use Apple Maps. Just Shut Up And be Happy. We All Wanted To Jailbreak and Now We Have It.

The biggest concern we should all take from this is have Apple fixed the exploits that allowed 6.1 to be JB.

If so kiss goodbye to any iTunes restores as Apple will shut down your ability to perform a restore, What this directly means pray your device encounters no problems that requires a restore.

If they haven’t fixed the exploits then the dev team will update the JB to work with 6.1.1 when they can.

Personally, I don’t think 6.1.1 was a strategic move to lure the JB out so they can patch the exploits. I can’t see their developers working so efficiently and patching an exploit in just 3 days. More likely their maps update (and other updates) couldn’t make it on time for 6.1.
