Has iPhone Battery Life Improved After Upgrading To iOS 6.1.2?

Yesterday, Apple released iOS 6.1.2 for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch to fix the Exchange Calendar bug.

In the release notes, Apple said that the Exchange bug could cause increased network activity and reduced battery life.

I knew that iOS 6.1 devices were causing excessive logging, which was resulting in high CPU utilization on the Exchange servers, but didn’t realize that it may also be the culprit for battery life issues, which was reported by some iPhone users after upgrading to iOS 6.1.

I wanted to know if you’re seeing improved battery life after upgrading to iOS 6.1.2. I personally haven’t seen any improvements, but I don’t use Exchange for Calendar.

Have you upgraded to iOS 6.1.2? What has been your experience? Are you seeing improved battery life? Let us know in the comments below.

I’m on the same boat. I don’t use exchange, and also haven’t seen any improvement to battery life… still sucks.

Same issue. Device still overheats. Moved from 5.1.1 to 6.1.2.

i have installed 6.1.2 today on my iphone 5. I shall keep track of the battery live

Anyone who expererienced battery life problem can do this: open setting > general > reset > reset all setting (not reset all content and setting). It safe for both jailed and jailbroken devices.

my JB’d i5 is on 6.1 and battery life is as good as it was when it was non-jailbroken at 6.0. i dont use exchange. havent noticed any differences in battery performance since i JB’d.

  • Jamaz

Yes, my battery performance is better!

For those who are or have had issues, did u update through iTunes or OTA (over the air)? I ask because I had a huge battery issue with 6.1 (I DO use exchange) and I had updated to 6.1 OTA. Then I read online that ppl say to do a restore on iTunes (in other words re-update to 6.1 again, but in iTunes). I will not use OTA again for updates. Though it’s nice, I don’t think it’s necessary and I think it creates issues (perhaps bugs of sorts). Just one man’s opinion.

I also meant to say that after doing the iTunes restore back to 6.1 my battery issues r much better. So for 6.1.2 I will use iTunes. Hopefully that works.

Always a good idea to restore through iTunes!

    Hell no

I think the battery is worse than it was.

Im seeing 20% increase on my I phone in a 9 hour working Day, when i get home im usually at 50% now im at 70% with all the same settings etc

I guess thats an excellent score. You can hold-off charging for two working days. Hope i can make that too.

I don’t know if it is a coincidence or not,but today I used my iPad Mini for as long as I did yesterday, and for whatever reason there is still a 93% of battery left.

  • shinydesert

    I updated via OTA.

  • Jsuli

Used every update, haven’t noticed a change, if any its not impacting my battery life enough to state improvements.(Jailbroke iOS6.1.2, 6.1.1, 6.1, 6.0, 5.1.1)

I got it and I have been listing for music for the past 45 min. And the battery life actually decreased by more than it used to. But I’m still not sure how long it will last.

I’m on 6.1 on an ip5 jailbroken of course. I run a lot of tweaks and use up most of the ram that this phone has to offer. I also have my gps in sig.change(GPS updates every time you change location or however often u set it to update) mode for the theme i use. My batt life however has been good since day one. My wireless provider is verzion. Maybe it is something that is carrier related and has to do with the phone signal rather than the iOS software. Also to note there are three other iPhones on my plan and they all have iOS 6.1 and great batt life too. Even the one that isn’t jailbroken.

I see significant improvement in battery life after updating to 6.1.2. I use exchange regularly so it looks like the issue has indeed been fixed.

    Much better

At first, i didn’t noticed any difference in battery life. I then removed my exchange accounts, and didn’t re-added them. Using imap now instead of exchange.

I can only say; battery life VASTLY improved. I took it off the charger (at 100%) when i go to bed. 8 hours of stand-by time later i had 99% left. Now, like 3 hours later and some usage its at 96%. Great!
