Business Insider reports that LinkedIn CEO Jeff Weiner surprised employees by giving every one an iPad mini.
LinkedIn had reported record revenue of $303.6 million in Q4 2012, up 81% from the year-ago period, which easily beat Street estimates.
So it was a small gesture from the CEO for their hard work.
Here’s what LinkedIn spokesperson had to say about it:
We wanted to acknowledge the hard work and accomplishments of all of our employees in 2012. During today’s biweekly All Hands meeting, we surprised our employees with iPad Minis as a small gesture of the company’s gratitude for their contributions.
Darain Faraz, a communications manager at LinkedIn UK tweeted about it:
That awesome moment when your CEO dishes out iPad minis to EVERY employee @linkedin @jeffweiner

Weiner gave them the 32GB iPad mini and not the entry level 16GB iPad mini.
A total of 3500 iPad minis were given away, which works out to approximately $1.5 million including taxes.
