EA’s Firemonkeys has posted yet another “Developer Diary” video on YouTube, showing off the yet-to-be-released Real Racing 3’s Time Shifted multiplayer feature. Earlier, Firemonkeys had posted a video explaining the efforts the development studio put in to making tracks in Real Racing 3 seem as authentic as possible.
Real Racing, in case you’re not aware, is a popular gaming title that was first developed by Firemint, and later acquired by Electronic Arts. The third version of the game was first previewed at Apple’s iPhone 5 event, where the Time Shifted multiplayer feature was demoed. Here’s how EA describes the feature:
With Real Racing 3’s Time Shifted Multiplayer™ (TSM) you can race anyone, anytime, even if they’re offline! Every single career event is filled with the fully interactive AI controlled time shift doubles of your Game Center or Facebook friends, as well as other players from around the world.
The feature essentially tries to use Artificial Intelligence to match your style of gaming when your opponent picks up his or her iPhone or iPad to race. We’re certain we’ve never even heard of such a feature before Firemonkeys announced it.
Here’s the video:
The game’s supposed to release sometime this month, though the release date or pricing details haven’t been announced yet.
