Earlier today, Eric Schmidt, Google’s Executive Chairman had indicated that the update for the Search app with Google Now was stuck with Apple’s App review team.
When Eric Schmidt, Google’s Executive Chairman was asked about Google Now for iOS at the Big Tent Activate Summit that took place in Delhi, he said that “You”ll have to ask Apple.”
CNET now reports that Apple has confirmed to them that Google Now has not been submitted to the App Store for approval yet.
As I had speculated, Google is probably playing mind games again. The search giant had used a similar strategy with Google Maps for iPhone. Google tried spreading this notion that Apple may reject the app, but it was ultimately approved.
I really can’t see any reason why Apple won’t approve the Search app with Google Now. Though I’m looking forward to the feature, I think Apple still has a huge advantage of having Siri integrated into the OS, giving it the ability to work with stock iOS apps.
Are you waiting for the Google Now feature? Let me know in the comments below.
Update:
The Verge has also got a confirmation from Apple that there is no Google app waiting for approval.
