There are people who like to keep the status bar on their iPhone clutter free. But if you’re like me who wants to make use of it to remind you of pending notifications, Calendar event, battery indicator and lots more, then you’re going to like this new jailbreak tweak called DirectionBar.
As the name suggests, DirectionBar developed by rud0lf77, a 15-year old iOS developer adds live compass icon to the Status bar as you can see in the screenshot below.
So you no longer need to launch the compass app to find out where your iPhone is pointing to. Check the short video demo of the tweak in action, which shows the live compass on the status bar moving as I rotate my iPhone 5 360 degrees.
You can change the compass icons via the Settings app (Settings -> DirectionBar) by uploading Retina and non-Retina compass icons in png format in /Library/ApplicationSupport/StatusCompass/ folder.
It would be pretty cool if the developer can add an SBSettings toggle that allows users to quickly enable the live compass on the Status bar whenever they want it rather than keeping it enabled all the time to prevent drain of battery life.
DirectionBar is free on the ModMyi repo, so tap on the download link below if you’re on a jailbroken iPhone to install it from Cydia.
Let me know what you think of the jailbreak tweak in the comments.
