Apple Releases iOS 6.1.3 To Fix Lock Screen Bug [Updatedx3]

ios_6_1_3

Apple has just released iOS 6.1.3 (Build: 10B329) for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.

According to the release notes, iOS 6.1.3 fixes the Lock screen bug and also brings improvements to Maps in Japan.

Here’s the release notes:

This update contains improvements and other bug fixes including:

– Fixes a bug that could allow someone to bypass the passcode and access the Phone app
– Improvements to Maps in Japan

Jailbreakers should avoid upgrading your iOS device to iOS 6.1.3, as the evad3rs dev team has confirmed that evasi0n won’t work with it.

Jailbreakers should also take a backup of the SHSB blobs for iOS 6.1.2 using TinyUmbrella before Apple stops signing iOS 6.1.2 firmware file, if you haven’t jailbroken your iOS device with evasi0n yet.

It looks like the update is being rolled out to all the servers as it is currently available via OTA update for only some users. We’ll update the post with the direct download links as soon as they’re available.

Update 1:

You can also download iOS 6.1.3 firmware file (ipsw) using the direct download links from our iOS download pages:

Update 2:

Apple has fixed 4 out of the 5 security flaws used in the evasi0n jailbreak in iOS 6.1.3. Check this post for more details.

Update 3:

If you’re an iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS or iPod touch 4G user and accidentally upgraded to iOS 6.1.3 then the good news is that it is still possible to jailbreak your iOS device using Redsn0w. Check this post for the step-by-step tutorial on how to jailbreak your device.

Too bad, Apple has fixed the vulnerabilities for jailbreaking in iOS 6.1.3. Better not update for jailbreakers.

  • Upgrayedd

My iphone is jailbroken with 6.1.1. I need to save my blobs. Can I still upgrade and jailbreak to 6.1.2 still and save them?

    • http://www.iphonehacks.com iPhoneHacks

Assuming you are still getting an option to update to iOS 6.1.2. Recommend staying where you are.

      • Upgrayedd

This is BS! I have had it with Apple. It takes like 6 months to get a jailbreak. We get it for like a couple of months then its gone. Now if something goes wrong with my phone I cant update because ill lose my jb. Now I will probably have to wait a year to save my blobs. Thank you Apple.

        • Hautsi

Well it isn’t necessary for you to upgrade to the latest firmware. The updates in 6.1.3 aren’t that major that you can’t live without them.

          • genXhippie

            I concur.

          • rasel

anyone please tell me what is the best ios 5.1,6,6.1.3 please tell me.
i will be waiting for your reply

          • dhaya

ios 6.1.2 now is the best

He said “now if something goes wrong … I can’t update” and he’s right about that. He can’t restore his phone without losing the jailbreak anymore.

Damn you Apple. Now have to be super careful when I install a tweak.

    • Slick

haha me too i got to limit trying out new tweaks or shady apps from now on :(

  • Zero

Correct me if I’m wrong, but since I saved my blobs on 6.1.2, so I can restore to 6.1.2 even after they stop signing it. Is there any specific way I need to do a restore so that I don’t accidentally restore to 6.1.3? … or is there a good, but simple, resource you can direct me to so I can learn about it?

It depends on which iOS device you have. You will be able to only downgrade iPhone and iPod touch 4G, not the newer devices. But it is still a good practise to take a backup of the SHSH blobs in case the hackers figure out a way to downgrade the newer devices.

      • mike

so i have a ipad 3 and a saved SHSH blobs of my 6.1 I can restore to 6.1 at anytime using TinyUmbrella?

        • http://www.iphonehacks.com iPhoneHacks

          No, at least not yet.

      • Zero

I’m not worried about downgrading, since I don’t plan on upgrading to 6.1.3. Can I do a restore/clean/fresh install of 6.1.2 if something gets messed up(with the blobs saved)?

        • http://www.iphonehacks.com iPhoneHacks

No, you won’t be able to restore as Apple will stop signing the iOS 6.1.2 firmware file very soon.

          • Slick

soon? even tho 6.1.3 is out apple doesn’t stop signing 6.1.2 right away? Cydia would have saved it for me right?

          • http://www.iphonehacks.com iPhoneHacks

Yes, you should see it on top when you launch Cydia.

  • Slick

man wat a sad day :(
haven’t even tested everythang on cydia yet :(

  • Jubeisan

I debated and waited too long to JB. Now I probably won’t get the chance.

Darn I just requested a replacement with Apple for my iPhone 5, I hope I’ll still get a device with 6.1.2 on it…

    • http://profiles.google.com/sebastian.rasch Sebastian Rasch

Update: Yep, runs 6.1. Fine to me! :)

According to MuscleNerd, Apple fixed 4 of the 6 exploits needed for evasi0n: https://twitter.com/musclenerd/status/314073229268496384

  • bcsc

Too bad you can’t just open Odin and flash a downgrade ROM. That would just be awesome. I mean of course, the ability to chose what you do with your phone.

  • Cyrus

Umm..I jail broke yesterday. My iPhone 4s is now jail broken on 6.1.2. I put on a passcode lock and I unlocked it successfully about 10x. I left it plugged in with iTunes open. It did not upgrade to 6.1.3 BUT my passcode lock has been changed. I didn’t forget the password. This is so strange. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? If I restore I have to go up to 6.1.3. I do not have ssh enabled. I could bypass the lock screen with the exploit, but is it possible to ssh into the phone and change your passcode lock via ssh? Did this happen to anyone else? Strangest thing ever.

      SAME PROBLEM! HELP!

    • vikram

if you know how to jailbreak 6.1.3 for 4s please let me know the procedures.

      • helpme

tell me if you find a jailbreak verison for that PLEASE!!!!

  • Charlie

I don’t know if I’m the only one experiencing problems, but since I updated my iPhone 5 a few hours ago, my phone keeps resetting itself when I open certain applications… Has happened 5 times now and it’s starting to get annoying… Been having problems twice when opening the settings app, once with iMessage and twice with safari… And my phone is only 3 weeks old and was never jailbroken… I regret having updated…

  • LawsAngel

i am on 5.0.1 jailbroken, can i upgrade to 6.1.2, are they still signing it?

When i open Cydia the SHSH bit in green at the top does have 6.1.2 listed, does that mean i have a blob for 6.1.2?

    any advice would be appreciated

    • http://www.iphonehacks.com iPhoneHacks

No, it’s no longer possible as Apple has stopped signing iOS 6.1.2.

      • lawsangel

What is the green blob bit in cydia with the firmware versions anyway?

  • Paul

Apple can Suck it. Next phone will not be an iPhone 5S, 6, or 6S. Samsung.
