Video: Here’s the new 16GB iPod touch in the flesh

Yesterday, Apple surprised us by launching the 16GB fifth generation iPod touch for $229.

As we reported yesterday, the 16GB model differs from the 32GB and 64GB model.

The 16GB model does not include the rear iSight camera. It is also marginally lighter. The 16GB model weighs 3.04 ounces (86 grams) compared to 32GB and 64GB models, which weigh 3.10 ounces (88 grams). It also comes in just one color. Based on the images on Apple’s website, it looks like the back panel is silver in color, whereas the front panel is black. It also does not have the “loop” lanyard hook.

Here’s the first look at the new 16GB iPod touch thanks to the video posted by a YouTube user CinematicTech, which gives a better idea.

Apple has discontinued the 4th generation iPod touch, making the 16GB iPod touch 5G the new entry level iPod touch.

The new iPod touch without the rear iSight camera for $299 hasn’t seem to have gone down too well with our readers.
