Velox gets new activation method, bug fixes, add-ons and our video review [Updated]

Over the weekend, ApexTweaks released Velox, which was one of the most eagerly awaited jailbreak tweaks for the iPhone.

ApexTweaks has now released an update for Velox, which brings a new activation method and also fixes various crashes reported by users.

Added the changelog for Velox 1.0.2 and the Addial add-on for Velox.

Velox Update:

Here’s what new in Velox 1.0.2:

-Fixed crash in Cydia folder
-pull to clear now easier to trigger
-weather folder now always shows correct data
-weather folder now refreshes correctly
-‘compose new message’ now BiteSMS compatible (when QR from banners disabled)
-reduced memory footprint
-velox plugins accessible from settings panel

New in Velox 1.0.1:

– Fixes various crashes, sorry
– Adds new activation method “double tap”, compatible with infiniboard
– New fix for FolderEnhancer is on its way!!

The new activation method is a welcome addition as swipe gestures on the app icon didn’t work too well for apps in the iPhone dock with Zehpyr installed.

You can switch to the new activation method via the Settings app (navigate to Velox > Icon Swipe Directions). I had to respring the device to get the new activation method to work.

It is also nice to know that fix for FolderEnhancer will be coming soon.

Velox Add-ons:

While the enhanced folder feature is currently available for a limited number of apps, the developers had released APIs that would allow third-party developers to add the enhanced folder feature for any app using them.

We’re already seeing the benefits of releasing the API as Max Katzmann has created a add-on called Stopwatch for Velox, which brings stop watch to the Home screen via the enhanced folder for the clock app.

Developer @rvirajm has released a add-on for Velox, which lets you add, dial or call a contact from the Home screen.

Swipe up or down (or double tap) on the Contacts app to get quick access to them.
