Apple rolls out iMessage Spam Reporting tool
Apple has quietly introduced an iMessage spam reporting tool based on a new knowledge base article that was discovered by 9to5Mac.
According to the article, users can report spam iMessage messages to Apple by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The date of the knowledge base article suggests it was rolled out earlier today.
Here’s are the instructions on how to report spam iMessage messages to Apple:
To report unwanted iMessage messages to Apple, please send an email with the following details to: email@example.com
- Include a screenshot of the message you have received.
- Include the full email address or phone number you received the unwanted message from.
- Include the date and time that you received the message.
iOS 7 also comes with a feature, that allows users to block phone calls, messages or FaceTime calls from specific numbers. But this should help users report the spammer to Apple so that they can investigate and block such accounts. It seems a little lame to report spam by sending email, hopefully Apple makes it a lot easier in the future.
