Apple continues to add new content to Apple TV. It has quietly added new apps for Vevo music channel – for on-demand music videos, The Weather Channel – which broadcasts weather forecasts and weather-related news, along with documentaries and entertainment programming related to weather, the Smithsonian Channel – which brings you original documentaries and videos exploring history, air and space, science, nature, and culture, Disney Channel and Disney XD.
Here’s an excerpt from Vevo’s press release:
Apple TV users are sure to recognize the intuitive and efficient design. VEVO viewers are able to quickly browse videos by featured artists including all of the latest premieres. VEVO includes multiple modes of discovery – you can watch on-demand videos from any genre or simply select any video that piques your interest. If you have something particular in mind, perform a search and we will surface what you’re looking for right at your fingertips.
Back in June, Apple had added HBO GO, WatchESPN, Sky News’ 24/7 news feed and on-demand news library, Crunchyroll, the leading global video service for Japanese Anime and Asian media and Qello, a leading on-demand streaming service for HD concerts and music documentaries.
Interestingly, unlike last time Apple has added the new apps without a software update, so you will be able to access them immediately. We’re told Disney Channel and Disney XD cannot be accessed outside the U.S.
Let us know if these new apps are available on your Apple TV.
