The iPhone is one of the most popular cameras out there, and the 6th annual iPhone Photography Awards aim to reward the best photos taken with an iPhone in the past year.
Here’s how the competition is described:
iPhone Photography Awards (IPPAWARDS) is the first and the longest running iPhone photography competition since 2007. IPPAWARDS has been celebrating the creativity of the iPhone users since the first iPhone has inspired, excited and engaged the users worldwide. Since then every year, IPPAWARDS has selected the best shots among thousands of images submitted by iPhone photographers from 38 countries around the world. Winners are selected by the jury members in several steps and The Photographer of the Year prize awarded.
The competition’s rules do not permit any external touches to photos. Apps like Instagram and Snapseed are, however, allowed.
The first position went to this close-up photo of a horse:
The second position went to this shot during Holi, the festival of colors:
Apart from the top three photos, there are also winners across categories like animals, people, travel, food etc.

The iPhone’s been the most popular camera on Flickr since a number of years, and with the rumored improvements coming to the iPhone 5S’ camera, its position would get even stronger.
