Google releases iOS app to Set Up and Manage Chromecast

Google has released its official iOS app for Chromecast, the device that plugs into the HDMI port of a TV set, and instantly adds video streaming capabilities to it. Chromecast was launched last month.

The iOS app allows users to set up their Chromecast, and also the ability to manage Chromecast settings such as changing device name, Wi-Fi password, etc.

Here’s the brief description of the app from the App Store:

Chromecast is the easiest way to enjoy online video and anything from the web on your TV. Plug it into any HDTV and control it with your existing smartphone, tablet, or laptop. No remotes required. Cast your favorites from YouTube, Netflix, Google Play Movies and Google Play Music and Chrome to your TV with the press of a button.

If you’ve a Chromecast then download the app for free from the App Store using this direct iTunes link. Chromecast app is a universal app, so you will be able to use it on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.

Chromecast has such interesting potential. It would be great if Google would permit easy changing / selection of wifi network, but presently a total reboot of the device is necessary to do that. Once spould be able to take the device anywhere and to any TV with wifi, but that is not as easy as it should be now.
