Apple releases iOS 7 beta 6 to developers

ios-7-logo

We’ve just got the news that Apple has seeded the sixth beta version of iOS 7 (build 11A4449d) to developers of iOS Developer Program.

This comes as a surprise as we were expecting Apple to release the next beta version sometime next week, and it has been just over week since it seeded iOS 7 beta 5.

Apple had seeded the first beta version of iOS 7 immediately after the WWDC 2013 Keynote on June 10th, iOS 7 beta 2 on June 24thiOS 7 beta 3 on July 8th,  iOS 7 beta 4 on July 29th and iOS 7 beta 5 on August 6th.

A report earlier today claimed that iOS 7 beta 6 will be the final beta version, before Apple seeds iOS 7 golden master build to developers.

iOS 7 beta 6 (13.5MB on iPhone 5) seems to be available via OTA update currently. It is available for the following iOS devices:

  • iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, iPhone 4
  • iPad 4, iPad 3, iPad 2 and iPad mini
  • iPod touch 5

Update 1:

We’ve just got the news that iOS 7 beta 6 is also available for download in iOS Dev Center. Direct download links for iOS 7 beta 6 (please note you need to be a register developer):

Update 2:

It looks like the update includes an emergency fix for an issue with iTunes in the Cloud, where some purchases may download or play unexpected items. Thanks Alan for the tip!

This update addresses an issue with iTunes in the Cloud, where some purchases may download or play unexpected items. If you have any devices running previous versions of iOS 7 beta, you must:
1. Install iOS 7 beta 6
2. Install the ResetMusicAndVideosLibraries configuration profile
3. From Settings > Music, tap the Reset Media Library button
4. Restart the device

Update 3:

  • We’ve receive multiple tips that Safari seems a lot snappier, and boot up time is a lot better.
  • And in case you’re working, there is still no sound while unlocking the device, which was removed in beta 6. Thanks Jason!

Update 4 (September 10):

Apple has seeded the golden master (GM) version of iOS 7 to developers. Check out this post to find out what’s new in iOS 7 GM.

    is that all?

  • Bob

It’s very early to release the final beta, maybe apple will launch another beta if this one is tomfix only itunes issues

    • Bob

      To fix*

    • Gautam

      Yeah, looks like it.

      • Bob

Yeah if this the final beta then apple will release later the GM very similar to this, so it seems it is only bug fixes, nothing else

  • Casey

13MB, you don’t need to share the links. Just update within General – Software Update!

  • Hello

This update makes my iPhone 5 ALOT more snappier and much faster.

    • Bob

      Wow nice :)
Now I’m getting sure iOS 7 GM will stay as the beta 5 and with this security thing in beta 6 nothing new

  • baltogun831

Wonder why I haven’t received the OTA update. I’m on beta 5 and it’s says I am up to date. Guess it hasn’t been pushed out to everyone yet.

    • Gautam

Yeah, we have received similar reports. Looks like it is not available on all the servers.

      • baltogun831

Thanks. We shall see what happens. I am a non-developer, but I’ve received all of the prior OTA updates.

        • Tim

Let us know how it goes.

          • baltogun831

Just received the OTA update notification. Downloading and installing as soon as I get to a WiFi connection.

    • baltogun831

Scratch that. I just received the update. Spoke too soon. So I can confirm that non-developers will also receive the update.

  • John

What if you are not a “register developer?”

    • Gautam

We haven’t received a confirmation whether OTA update for non-developers works. We’ll update the post as soon as we get it.

      • John

I cant lie? And please do. Thanks for the reply.

        • ffac789

OTA worked for me, only 13.5MB though on iPhone 5.

          • John

Are you a developer? I haven’t got anything yet.

          • baltogun831

I am not a developer and I got mine about an hour ago.

          • solo

            how u do it

          • ffac789

No not a developer. Though if it never appears for you OTA I suggest you just do the original update method for Beta 1, non-devs (update through iTunes with the ipsw). That happened to me between beta 2 and 3.

      • Karar Fares Sahib

no developer and just updated from beta 5 OTA

      • TiBooth

        OTA for non-devs is working.

        • Erik

How do I get it pl help

      • Havoc

I’m a non-dev, and am getting the OTA updates

    • Girl

      Then you can’t update it

    • Asmit

      Then forget it

    • VinitJasoliya

without developer account download it from here:

      www . is . gd / ios7gm

remove the spaces from the link

  • Bob

Now it’s time for developers to finish working on their apps with ios 7 compatibility and its new UI until the GM will be released to them to test apps before launching into the app store after releasing GM to public, I can’t wait until then :/

    • Pacomacman

We’ve been working on updates for a while. But when there are so many bugs still unfixed I am pretty sure we have a couple more betas yet. I still have five bugs submitted to Apple still outstanding so my upgrades are at a halt until they’re fixed.

      • Bob

So it seems apple need to launch another beta with major bug fixes

  • Bob

Typo: links for ios 7 beta 6 not 5

    • http://www.iphonehacks.com iPhoneHacks

      Thanks, typo fixed!

      • Bob

        No prob ;)

  • Bob

I’m not sure in which beta the unlocking aound was removed but sure it’s not in beta 6, maybe 3 or 4

    • Bob

      Sound*

      • Gautam

It was removed in beta 5.

        • Bob

Ok thanks :) then typo: beta 5 not beta 6 . Lol

  • Rob

Find my iPhone isn’t working right

    • http://crankleft.com/artists/brad-hodson Brad Hodson

My goodness, use the BETA VERSION. The regular app crashes, the Beta is the one you’re supposed to be using.

  • Moses Altmann

Its downloading for me. I’m on an iPod touch 5G and not a dev. 13MB? Nothing major I guess.

  • randomMAN

    refresh button in contacts

    • Angelo Vijandre

The refresh button in contacts had been in existence since the previous betas.

  • alltimehackers

    Theirs still app crashing

    • Gautam

That will only get fixed when developers can release apps with iOS 7 support, which will be possible when iOS 7 GM is released.

    • Pacomacman

You need to report any app crashes to Apple or the developer. Existing apps run in legacy mode and should work fine.

  • alltimehackers

Maps icons changed or got bigger

  • Guest

I am not able to install the ResetMusicAndVideosLibraries Configuration profile anyone faced the same issue ?

  • MercedNative209

    access denied?!

  • Karl

Typo it was removed in beta 5 not 6

  • Stephen

Is anyone else having problems with their lower volume button after the update

  • Fingers21

Was hoping it would fix my battery on my iphone 5, because it sucks! But so far, it’s not looking good! It does make the iphone 5 much snappier and boot time is definately better.

    • Qualcuno222

God, it’s a DEVELOPER BETA. If you’re not a developer, you are not even supposed to be using that. So do not complain about battery, that’s stupid out of you!
(Betas include debug code along with bugs, it’s obvious they use more battery)

  • Brian

Any idea when they will fix the bug, that makes FIND MY IPHONE crash all the time?

    • http://crankleft.com/artists/brad-hodson Brad Hodson

Use the BETA VERSION. The regular app crashes, the Beta is the one you’re supposed to be using.

  • McReedy

OTA Update worked fine for me without DevAccount (clean install from beta 3)

  • Garrett Shane Bryant

So if I am not a registered developer how exactly do I install iOS7?

  • Garrett Shane Bryant

Right, so if I am coming from iOS 6 and am not a dev, where do I find the correct file to download and install on my 4S?

  • PsychoEd200

Cover flow doesn’t show all covers in full screen anymore. Just a single row

    • RubenR

Yeah u can pinch to zoom to change number of album covers shown

  • PsychoEd200

Oops i lied. Guess it was a bug

  • Mazhar

I have installed ios 7 beta 6 and i cant install any app from app store directly on my iphone 4s ?????? any suggestions

    • sanchit

let me know if you’re able to figure this problem out. i have the exact same problem

  • Mito

The music bar on the lock screen is more responsive.

  • Mazhat

there are now timestamps for each message (sent or recieved) you just have to grab and pull it from right to left . and body noticed that?

    • lizskywalker

      thats been there

  • sanchit

I updated to IOS 7 beta 6 using the direct update from the settings window on the iphone. Ever since I’ve been unable to download a new app or update my old ones. On selecting a new app for a fresh download, I get the icon with “waiting” written underneath it. Same waiting note appears below the app icon on updating an old app. But these apps neither get downloaded or updated. So please help??

    • RubenR

Are u connected to wifi? They maybe over 50mb?

      • sanchit

tired on wifi and 3G. they’re all below 50mb. not updating/installing

        • sanchit

          • ld1201

I am having the same issue!

    • lizskywalker

did you find a fix for it? Ive rebooted and nothing….. Its getting frustrating.

      • sanchit

no man nothing. Anyone been able to figure this out?

    • Melissa Lewis

I’m having the same problem been told to do a reset all setting. But I haven’t yet for the fear of messing up my phone.

  • sudhimsham

If im updating from iOS 6.1.4 for the first time to ios 7 beta 6 is that possible or do i need to be on one of the earlier betas then upgrade to the latest beta 6? thanks!

  • Santiago

My translucency effects doesn’t work anymore… anyone having the same problems? Even when my wallpaper is red, when I “slide to unlock” having a passcode, the whole screen turns grey. That also happens with folders, Control Center and the Dock. Help!

    • Log

I’m having the same problem. It’s not that big of a deal to me but I would like it back because it’s really neat looking.

  • Fingers21

First up, learn English dickhead! Second up, I am a developer, so have every right to use beta! I have submitted bug reports since beta 4 regarding battery issues, as well as message app crash. So get off your high horse you queer!

  • Călin

Does ios 6 apps run on beta ios 7 ?

    • sanchit

      yes

  • James Goldstein

  • James Goldstein

  • Iphoneuser23

I just noticed that iTunes Radio is no longer accessible in beta 6. The only way I have been able to access it is through Siri commands. The tab in the music app seems to be removed…

  • luis bezerra

Most apps still crash on beta 6, notably related to pdf, photo or video archive apps such as Sidebooks and Secret Chamber, crashing are related to password issues, hiding locking, and size problems, too many files. Linkedin is also crashing, as there are many other apps.

  • Jason Montoya

I can not update or download any apps for some strange reason. I am running ios 7b6 white iphone 5 16gb on sprint LTE network. I’ve never had this problem with any of the other betas except for b5 and this b6. Can any one help

  • Liz

Why do apps download so slowly with the iOS 7 beta? None of the apps I select from the App store are downloading. Is there anything I can do to speed it up? They are stuck in the “Waiting…” state.

  • Isaac Koss

The developer links are for “.dmg” files only. Where to I get the “.ipsw” file? Thanks.

    • http://www.iphonehacks.com iPhoneHacks

You have to double click on the dmg file to mount it, and access the ipsw file.

      • Isaac Koss

        I’m using Windows.

        • Darin

You have to use a dmg extractor for windows

How do I get iOS 7 plz help

  • Corey

I am running an iPhone 5. iOS 7 Beta 6.

I have not had many issues to speak of since Beta 5, however, I must be missing something in settings… MY PROBLEM IS, my Control/Notification Center is not “translucent” , blurry effect, or whatever term you want to use. It’s just normal. I see screenshots all the time. A key part of the changes… Can anyone tell me if it is a setting, or if I am just missing something?

    Appreciate any help.
