According to The New York Post, retailers, including Apple, are lining up to lease space in the upcoming World Trade Center Mall. Mall owner Westfield Group has leased out about 90 percent of this valuable retail space, which occupies about 360,000 square feet of the 16-acre site.
Apple is reportedly close to inking a deal with the Westfield Group, which is also negotiating with brands like Swatch, Abercrombie & Fitch, and Victoria’s Secret. If this deal works out, then this new World Trade Center location will become Apple’s fifth retail store in New York City. It will join the company’s Fifth Avenue, Grand Central, SoHo, Upper West Side, and West 14th Street stores.
Apple has allegedly been eying this spot due to the size of the mall and its potential for heavy foot traffic as the World Trade Center is a major transportation hub in the city. The mall is expected to open in 2015.
