Apple releases iOS 7 GM to developers

As expected, Apple has seeded iOS 7 golden master (GM) to registered developers of the iOS Developer Program.

Golden Master is the final build of iOS 7 before the software is publicly released, and usually has the same build number as the one that is burned onto new iPhones.

Apple had seeded the first beta version of iOS 7 immediately after the WWDC 2013 Keynote on June 10th, iOS 7 beta 2 on June 24thiOS 7 beta 3 on July 8th,  iOS 7 beta 4 on July 29th,  iOS 7 beta 5 on August 6th and iOS 7 beta 6 nearly a month ago.

As with all GM builds, you can’t do an OTA update from previous betas. The build is available for the following iOS devices:

  • iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, iPhone 4
  • iPad 4, iPad 3, iPad 2 and iPad mini
  • iPod touch 5

Here are the download links (Note that you have to be a registered developer to download these builds):

If I am on iOS beta 7 without a developer account, do I have to downgrade before the official release is out next week? I know I can’t do OTA, but I want to be ready when it is released. Thanks!

    • Snitch

No, you don’t, just do a full restore.

      • MattC

Thanks! Can I restore from a current iOS 7 beta 6 backup?

        • Snitch

You’re Welcome. Yes, you can either restore from IOS 6 backup or iOS 7 beta anything. They all work. If you restore from IOS 6 then your iCloud will be upgraded, if you already have beta installed it will simply work without any processing.

  • Likes positive feedback

I’m on iOS 7 beta 7 non dev. Am I able to wait until the 18th update through iTunes? Or can I update through iTunes now and continue using the GM software without a dev account.

How can I upgrade to Ios 7 next week? I have ios beta 6. Can’t be OTA?

  • kidany

so its mandatory to register to get the new ios or is there any other way you can get it? is it available for ipad mini as well?

is the Gold Master update safe for non devs

Hello! Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I’ve heard that if you update to iOS 7 GM, you will not be able to update it to the actual iOS 7 on the actual release date. Is this confirmed? Also, if I stick to iOS 7 beta 6, will that be the same case for the release date? If so, is it recommended I just downgrade back to iOS 6.1.3 (iPhone 5) before the release date so I can update it properly on the actual day? Sorry if this is confusing haha.

    Thanks!
