Apple stores in the US are prepping for the big iPad Air launch tomorrow. While most stores are ready for lines of customers, some stores are preparing for a deluge of web orders by holding back inventory to accommodate these online shoppers.
According to a report in 9to5Mac, stores in select markets are withholding up to a dozen units of each model and color for customers who want to reserve their unit instead of waiting in line. These folks will miss out on the camaraderie of waiting in line for the tablet device, but they will be assured of getting one when they order.
Orders start on November 1st at 12:00AM PT and in stores at 8:00AM local time. Customers who opt to order online may be able to reserve an iPad Air online and pick it up later in the day. If the initial inventory of device sells out on Friday, additional shipments are expected over the weekend and early next week.
Most of the chatter about the iPad air suggests it will be plentiful, and everyone who wants one will get one. Do you plan on buying an iPad Air or are you waiting for the iPad mini with Retina display?
