GTA San Andreas coming to iPhone and iPad in December with game controller support

Rockstar Games, publishers of the popular gaming franchise Grand Theft Auto, have announced that GTA San Andreas will be coming to the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad in December.

GTA San Andreas was originally released in 2004 and is set in the early 90s and is based in the three fictional cities Los Satos, San Fierro and Las Ventureas. The game’s mobile port will feature improved graphics, shadows, a better colour palette, and enhanced characters and car models. The game is also optimised for touch controls and includes support for the newly-introduced Made for iOS game controllers:

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas also features brand new touch controls including contextual control options to display buttons only when you need them and three different control schemes for driving and maneuvering, as well as a reworked checkpoint system for easier progression. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas for mobile also comes equipped with full controller support, including Made for iOS controller capability on iOS7.

A few complaints with the original crop of games with game controller support has been that the touch controllers still stay on screen, so here’s hoping that GTA would make them disappear when it detects a game controller connected.

There’s no specific release date or any information on pricing, but Rockstar Games says there’ll have more details in the coming weeks.
