It’s been over a year since Scott Forstall left Apple and his position as head of iOS development. What has he been doing these past 13 months? According to a report in The Information, Forstall has been traveling, advising and investing.
Ever since his departure from Apple, Scott Forstall has been out of the headlines, with little to no reports about his whereabouts and activities. Not surprisingly, Forstall has been doing what most people would do if they had some free time and extra money — he’s been advising startups, donating money to charitable organizations and traveling around the world. Business Insider summarizes The Information report as follows:
Amir Efrati at new technology site The Information is reporting that Forstall spent the year traveling to Italy and South Africa. He also advised a few startups, and became more philanthropically involved, focusing on education, poverty, and human rights.
As for what’s next, Efrati doesn’t have any news, but he says VC firms like Kleiner Perkins and Andreessen Horowitz have stayed in touch, but Apple employees think Forstall’s next move will be starting his own company.
It’s not terribly detailed, but it’s the best information we have on Forstall since he departed the Cupertino company. You can read more about Forstall in the report at The Information (requires a subscription).
