BioProtect: iPhone 5s Tweak lets you lock apps with Touch ID

BioProtect1

Few days backĀ Elias Limneos, developer of tweaks like SBRotator, CallBar, had posted a teaser video of a new tweak called BioProtect that would allow iPhone 5s users to lock apps with Touch ID.

The good news is that BioProtect is now available on Cydia.

BioProtect allows iPhone 5s users to protect their apps using Touch ID. But unlike Applocker, which we covered earlier, BioProtect is an iPhone 5s only jailbreak tweak as it relies on Touch ID, and doesn’t provide passcode option as an alternative. So it cannot be used with non-Touch ID devices. It can only lock apps and not folders currently.

To configure the apps that you want to lock, launch the Settings app and navigate to BioProtect. The Settings page for BioProtect is also locked, and can be accessed only with Touch ID.

When you try to launch a locked app, the tweak will prompt you to authenticate using your fingerprint. It shows a cool animation when you tap on the Touch ID to unlock the app.

It also gives you an option to choose the color of circle via the Settings app (Settings > BioProtect > Circle Color) based on the color of your device such as white, black and gold.

Here’s a video walkthrough of the jailbreak tweak:

BioProtect is available on Cydia for $2.99. Applocker may not be as well designed as BioProtect, but it offers lot more features, and is $2 cheaper.

Let me know what you think of BioProtect in the comments below.

I does NOT work with the built-in photo app. However, when taking a photo, it requires the fingerprint to be entered when pressing the left-hand bottom thumbnail. Don’t get it. I installed it only to have my photos protected.
