Google releases Play Movies & TV app for iOS

Google hasn’t been shy about supporting the iOS platform. Thus far, the Android maker has introduced apps for its Google Music service, Google Drive, Google Search, Google Maps and more. Now, the company has added its Play Movies and TV streaming content to its iOS app lineup.

The new Google Play Movies & TV app taps into your Google account and allows you playback movies and TV shows on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. The app supports streaming over WiFi and is only a player for TV shows and movies. It does not allow you to purchase content from your iOS device. All purchases must be made from the Google Play Store before the media will be accessible on your iOS device. There is no offline streaming.

The Google Play Movies & TV app is a universal app that is compatible with the iPhone and iPad running iOS 6 or later. The availability of TV shows is currently limited to the United States, Japan, and United Kingdom. Do you have media in the Google Play store, will you use this app to stream your content?
