How to Jailbreak iOS 6.1.5, iOS 6.1.4, iOS 6.1.3 with p0sixspwn [Windows/Mac]

p0sixspwn

iH8sn0w, winocm and SquiffyPwn have released p0sixspwn to jailbreak iOS 6.1.5-iOS 6.1.3 for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.

In this guide, we will take you through the step-by-step guide to jailbreak your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch on iOS 6.1.5 – iOS 6.1.3 using p0sixspwn for both Windows and Mac users.

Here are some important things to point out before you proceed:

  • This guide is meant for iPhone, iPad or iPod touch on iOS 6.1.3 – iOS 6.1.5 (Settings -> General -> About – Version). If your device is on iOS 7 or later, then check this webpage for the links to the latest jailbreak guides for your iOS version.
  • p0sixspwn performs an untethered jailbreak.
  • Please do not jailbreak your device to pirate apps from the App Store.

Requirements:

  • p0sixspwn supports the following devices on iOS 6.1.3 – iOS 6.1.5:
    • iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5
    • iPod touch 4G, iPod touch 5G
    • iPad 2, iPad 3, iPad 4, iPad mini
  • Mac: OS X 10.6+ or Windows

Important steps before we proceed:

  • Please disable the passcode on your iOS device temporarily for the jailbreak process. (Settings > General > Passcode Lock – Turn Passcode Off). Don’t forget to enable it after you’ve successfully jailbroken your device.
  • Please uncheck Encrypt iPhone (iPad/iPod touch) Backup option in iTunes temporarily for the jailbreak process. Don’t forget to enable it after you’ve successfully jailbroken your device.

Step-by-step process:

Step 1: Download the latest version of p0sixspwn jailbreak from this link and save it to your desktop.

Step 2: Double click the downloaded file and extract the application.

Windows users: Please note Windows users should extract p0sixspwn to your Desktop or C:\ drive prior to running. Do not run it directly from the zip. Please launch the application as an Administrator. Right Click on the evasion exe and select the “Run as Administrator” option.

Step 3: After launching p0sixspwn, it will prompt you to connect your iOS device.

Step 4: Connect your iOS device to the computer. p0sixspwn will mention that your device has been detected, and also show the iOS firmware version.

p0sixspwn-howto-1Step 5: Click on the Jailbreak button.

Step 6: After clicking on the Jailbreak button the tool will give a progress update on the various stages of the jailbreak process such as.

  • Connecting to device …
  • Getting payload files from Apple .. (If this fails, your internet connection has issues…)
  • Gathering information to generate jailbreak data…
  • Sending initial data … [You will see Restore in Progress on your iOS device]
  • Waiting to reboot. Do not unplug your device.
  • Waiting for device… [You will see this after the device has rebooted]
  • Remounting root…
  • Sending Cydia and untether payload to the device… [After sometime it will reboot the device]
  • Your device is now jailbroken, it now preparing to reboot automatically.

Step 7: After it has rebooted, you’re done. It has been successfully jailbroken and you should be able to find the Cydia icon on the home screen  (it may not be on the first page so search for it to locate it).

Troubleshooting tips:

For Mac users:

I had an issue with p0sixspwn v1.0.7. It would just close after rebooting the device on my Mac. I was able to successfully jailbreak my iPhone 3GS with p0sixspwn v1.0.2 for Mac. So if you’ve an issue download p0sixspwn v1.0.2 from our download page and try again.

For Windows users:

As I have mentioned earlier, it is important to extract the program to C:\ drive, and also run the program as an administrator. If you’re a Windows 8 users who is still having issues, then try to run the app in Windows 7 compatibility mode. To change the compatibility mode, right-click on the exe, then click on Properties from the menu, followed by the Compatibility tab. Check the “Run this program in compatibility mode for” box, and then select Windows 7 from the drop-down.

Downgrading iTunes:

A number of readers who have Windows machines have reported that they managed to successfully jailbreak their iOS device after downgrading iTunes from 11.1.3 to 11.1.4. You can download the older version of iTunes from this link.

Redsn0w+P0sixspwn package:

If you still have problems jailbreak your device then you can use Redsn0w to perform a tethered jailbreak, and then install the p0sixspwn package from Cydia to convert the tethered jailbreak into an untethered jailbreak. You can check our step-by-step guide if you need help.

After the jailbreaking process is complete, do not forget to checkout our article on tips to keep your iOS device secure.

Hope this helped. Please don’t forget to let us know how it goes in the comments and drop us a line if you hit any issues.

    my wifi isnt working?? wtf??

    • Gautam

      Reset your Network settings via the Settings app (Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings) to see if it fixes it.

      • Paulyy

        this does nothing

  • clebra

    As soon as rebooting device comes up a window opens and says p0sixspwn 1.0.7 has stopped working. I’ve tried running in different compatibility modes and always run in administrator but always get the same result. I’ve seen quite a few others with same issue, any ideas???? Running windows 8, iPhone 5 6.1.4

  • Nu

    So I’ve tried at 2 different locations with my MacBook. It will download fine, I can open the program, and hook my phone up. Originally it wouldn’t get passed the reboot screen. As of today, I restarted my Mac, redownloaded the software and I got a little further.. “performing magic….” BUT it yet again closed out unexpectedly. I’ve got an iPhone 5 running 6.1.4… is there any other one available that can be used or is this the only jailbreak as of now?

    • Nu

      Oh and I am running Software Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63)

      • Gautam

        Try using p0sixspwn 1.0.2 for Mac from the download page: http://www.iphonehacks.com/download-p0sixspwn.

        It worked for me, but after I ran it the second time. I observed a similar issue that you mentioned with p0sixspwn 1.0.7 and thought it was some local issue at my end. Let me know how it goes.

    • charlette

      I have an ipod 4th gen and it will download fine, run fine, it gets to performing magic 1000 and then says the program stopped working, it’s done it 4 times I’m using Windows I extracted the application tried it in xp service pack 3 tried 7 and tried Vista service pack 2, I don’t know what else to try..

  • guy

    does it have to be in DFU mode?

    • Gautam

      No

  • Juxshoa

    Using p0sixspwn v1.0.7 in Windows 8 to jailbreak my iPod 5. Its been on the “Running helper” status for half an hour, how long am I supposed to wait?

    • Juxshoa

      Alsoo, iPod is running on 6.1.3

      • Protato

        Try to change the compatibility to windows 7.

        • Juxshoa

          Unfortunately, this doesn’t work for me. Same things are

    • Juxshoa

      Still not working, here are my findings:
      Program: p0sixspwn v1.0.7

      Computer Software: Windows 8
      Device: iPod 5
      Firmware: 6.1.3
      Observations: Everything goes well until the end. On the “Running helper” status, the program just stalls. It looks like its loading but the progress bar does not move at all. Longest time waited: 40 minutes.
      ~~~~~~~~~~~2nd Report
      Program: p0sixspwn v1.0.4
      Computer Software: Windows 8
      Device: iPod 5
      Firmware: 6.1.3
      Observations: Program finishes jailbreak, however after iPod 5 reboots, Cydia is no where to be seen on screen. I reboot multiple times without success. iPod is not jailbroken and no changes made.
      • Juxshoa
        ~~~~~~~~~~~3rd Report
        Program: p0sixspwn v1.0.5

        Computer Software: Windows 8
        Device: iPod 5
        Firmware: 6.1.3
        Observations: Same as v1.0.4

  • guy

    mine is staying on “waiting for reboot”. It’s stayed this way for a while now.

  • Gh0st123

    WINDOWS FIX: Here’s how I fixed the problem where everyone is finding an issue where the Jailbreak ‘has stopped working’ (v1.0.7) or is stuck on ‘waiting for reboot…’(v1.0.5). If you are on Windows 8, go to another computer that was Windows 7(in my case I had a Windows 8 laptop where both jailbreaks didn’t work, then moved to my windows 7 Laptop). The jailbreak should then work successfully. This was tested on my 4S IOS 6.1.3. If 1.0.5 or 1.0.7 still doesn’t work on a Windows 7 computer/laptop, try finding and testing v1.0.4 windows. TIP: also try running as admin while doing this.

    • Gautam

      Thanks for sharing the solution. Alternatively, you could also run the app on your Windows 8 machine but with Windows 7 compatibility mode.

      • Gh0st123

        The compatibility method does not work for me and many others on Windows 8. It’s best to just move to a Windows 7 desktop/laptop.

    • ApplesintheFall

      I am running Windows 7 and am having this problem…what can I do? I have tried running the program under XP SP2 and that doesn’t work either. It won’t get past waiting to reboot to jailbreak my 4s 6.1.3

  • killerbuz13

    Will this delete everything on my I-device?

    • Gautam

      No it won’t, but as I have recommended in the article, you should take a backup of your device so that you can restore from it if something goes wrong.

    Success! I was able to jailbreak an iPhone 3GS 32GB (A1303) running iOS 6.1.3 on a Windows 7 64-bit machine using p0sixspwn v1.0.7. At first I tried with iTunes v11.1.4 64-bit (the latest iTunes version as of Feb 1st 2014), but p0sixspwn crashed with a corefoundation.dll error. I then rolled back iTunes from v11.1.4 64-bit to v11.1.3 64-bit (downloaded from http://www.oldapps.com/itunes.php), and that worked fine.

    • nonya

      Works great! the key is the older iTunes!! Thank you!!

    • chevy66

      hey how u doing sorry to bother u but I was wondering if u could help me jailbreak my iphone4 they just gave it to me and im trying to use it with boostmobile I realy don’t know much about computers can u please help thank u

  • Alex

    The application won’t even open up ._.

  • jack

    I plugged in my device and it’s still saying “plug in device” ;-;

    • http://www.iphonehacks.com iPhoneHacks

      Try another USB port

  • http://www.gh-solutions.net/ DiViN3

    Use the latest version of p0sixspwn and iTunes version 11.0.1.12 which can be downloaded directly via my server link – http://103.2.182.146/jailbreak , simply uninstalled the iTunes if you are having a later version then stated above or upgrade if you are using an older version by installing the version available in my link. Once installed do a full backup of your phone and run the p0sixspwn as administrator…. the JB program detects your connected phone and simply click on jailbreak and wait for est 10mins and that’s it you are done with jail-breaking.

    • DAH

      This works! Awesome.

  • charlette

    It gets to saying performing with magic 1000 twice and once it said error 3 then closed out then the second time it said p0sixspwn v1.0.7 stopped working

    I have an ipod touch 4, ios 6.1.5, with a windows 8.1 & 7 computer. I have tried all compatibility modes, with no success, on both computers. Will a new update fix this or is this a common problem? Thank you

    • Nina

      I have the same issue. I have an ipod touch 4, iOS 6.1.5, with a windows 7 computer and after installing p0sixpwn and opening it as an administrator it’ll detect my device and I can click on “jailbreak”. But it won’t won’t load more than “Waiting for device to reboot”, even if I wait for hours!

      I’d be really thankful if anyone could help me solving this problem!

      Don’t know if it helps, iPhone 3GS 16GB, Windows 7 64bit worked like a charm.

    • Nick Reed

      Just manually reboot the device. After rebooting as soon as you “slide to unlock” the program will continue doing it’s thing. Had the same problem & just decided to try rebooting it myself instead of waiting for the program to do it.

  • jjgo66

    mine get stuck on rebooting device on windows 7

  • Jaykalvin

    Mine did the reboots and everything how it was supposed to but I don’t see Cydia on it anywhere. p0sixpwn claims it’s already jailbroken. IT’s an ipod 4 and I’m on Mavericks OS X 10.9.1

      hello marcoz8, i was just wondering – did you jailbreak using windows or mac? and did you restore the phone BEFORE jailbreaking it?

    This solution evades the activation lock on IOS6 ?

  • Pazzerello

    Worked seamlessly for me! You just plug-in, press the button and DON’T HESITATE! Instead, you may rather go grab a mug of tea or whatever and relax in your armchair (without music, though, cause the app prevents iTunes from running). It may take a few minutes to complete. 4S 6.1.3

  • Pazzerello

    And yep, I used version 1.0.2 for Mac (10.8.5).

    nice tip and easy Great
    and bug fix with 1.0.7 with windows 8 its stops and restarts

  • I Try to Help

    This is what I got: on my Windows 7 laptop, the 1.0.7 version stopped working and the 1.0.5 version got stuck on ‘Waiting to reboot’ – my iPod didn’t even turn off. What worked for me was: I went onto my old Windows XP computer and downloaded both of them (1.0.5 and 1.0.7). The 1.0.5 had the same problem so I tried the 1.0.7 one and it worked perfectly!! :)
    Basically, if it doesn’t work, try it on a different computer/ operating system.

  • Andrew

    WINDOWS 7 64-bit FIX: I found that all of the other “Windows Fixes” for the “stopped working” problem didn’t help me. What DID WORK for me (iPod Touch 4 with iOS 6.1.5) is as follows:

    1. Uninstall iTunes
    2. Uninstall Apple Application Support
    3. Uninstall Apple Mobile Device Support
    4. Uninstall Apple Software Update
    5. Uninstall Bonjour
    6. Run CCleaner to scan the registry. Fix all issues ensuring that you make a backup of the registry when prompted.
    7. Download iTunes v11.1.3 64-bit from http://www.oldapps.com/itunes.php
    8. Reboot (may not be necessary but recommended)
    9. Install iTunes v11.1.3 64-bit
    10. Reboot (may not be necessary but recommended)
    11. Extract p0sixspwn.exe to C:
    12. Run p0sixspwn.exe by right-clicking on it and selecting “Run as administrator”. Follow the programs prompts.

    I didn’t need to backup my iPod Touch because it was a fresh install. Don’t forget to backup your device before jailbreaking (between steps 10 and 11) if you have any data that you want to keep.

    What I had found was that simply uninstalling iTunes 11.1.4 and then installing iTunes 11.1.3 did NOT overwrite the latest SQLite3.dll with the older version. It was necessary to also uninstall the Apple Application Support before installing the older iTunes. I uninstalled all of the other Apple software to be on the safe side – it may or may not be necessary.

    Hope this works for you.

    • ShadowRod

      FINALY IT WORKED!!!! Ipod touch 5, 6.1.3 Thanks!!!

  • Splitt

    Win 7 Machine running in 64bit, I read several of the comments below and I was able to get p0sixspwn V1.0.7 to work by doing the following yes some of it is similar to that which was previously posted and any credit for those portions are theirs. I right clicked on the p0sixspwn V1.0.7 exe file and opened properties, went to compatibility changed it to XP SP3 and checked the Run as Administrator. I then uninstalled Itunes and installed Version 11.1.3 but I continued to get the same error and it did not work for me.
    So for the next round I decided to make sure I completely uninstalled everything I could relating to Apple so, I then uninstalled ALL Apple installations including Itunes, the Mobile support and Application support programs. To make sure that nothing was left on my machine I then used Glary Utilities to remove any little tid bits that may have gotten left on my machine. I then rebooted my machine and downloaded Itunes Version 11.1.0.126 and installed. I ran p0sixspwn V1.0.7 as (previous mentioned changes still intact) and boom it installed and ran on my Ipod 4th Gen 6.1.5 like a champ. Hope this helps anyone looking to do this.

  • Matt

  • Diego Maman

    I’m still having issues after downgrading itunes to 11.1.3.8 (after cleaning the registry) and trying compatibility mode (im running W7 ultimate sp1). v1.0.7 crashes after the reboot. Also, I should note that everything goes fine until after my phone reboots. My phone reboots, but does not immediately reconnect to the computer. The program crashes shortly before this (edit: I should add that i have a 3gs model MC137LL/A.) Can anyone suggest a way forward for me? Thanks for the time.

    Windows VISTA Users READ!

    Okay so here is how I successfully jailbroke my iPhone5 16GB running iOS 6.1.4 on Win Vista 32x bit. First I made sure to install iTunes 11.1.3 32x and then downloaded the p0sixspwn v1.0.7 jailbreak. After extracting and saving to my desktop, I ran it as administrator. When it gives the pop-up saying “Waiting for reboot” go ahead and manually turn off/on your phone. From there it will take care of the rest! Enjoy!

  • Caspyr

    Hello
    I’ve found a reason a lot or people may have issues when you are waiting for it to reboot you manually reboot the device{Hold Power+Home buttons> Wait till black>Press Power} but it keeps closing after that step this is my first time jail braking i know im a while behind but id like some help

  • Nathaniel Espino Asuncion

    is this effective? cause other jailbreaking sites require ios firmware dowload ASAP

  • Robert Lockmiller

    I am attempting to jailbreak and my iphone is stuck trying to reboot. What can I do?

    • Robert Lockmiller

      By stuck rebooting, I mean it won’t go past the Apple logo screen. Been trying for almost 2 hours, starting to worry that I just wasted $50 on this used iPhone…….

  • shane

    this is untethered right

  • T_T

    Um… Cydia just did not happen, it said i successfully jailbroke, but… there was no change at all.. none.. im a 6.1.3 Iphone 4s… I dont know what to do now

      • Lucky J

        Same here, any ideas?
        All went smooth, the software told me and still tell me that my phone is jailbroken and cydis is on, but when I try to put the other operator sim card, it tells me that the sim card will not work. ONly the original sim card work in it.

        • Lucky j

          I forgot, when I’m I supposed to remove to original sim card when I’m doing this? When I’m I supposed to put the new one in? Those this mather?

  • OppHunta

  • overlord.am20

    my jailbreak doesn’t work either , it stuck “waiting for reboot” if i manually turn off the iphone 3gs and turn it back on it says “performing magic” and then the program stops every time , saying “there is a problem with the program” i have gone into properties and compatability and tried everything , i have windows 7 and it tells me the app is not compatable , i have tried p0sixpwn-v1.0.5-win and 1.0.4 versions with no success , has any one else had this problem and found a solution ?

  • Me

    Successfully with an iPad 2 on IOS 6.1.3 using iTunes 11.1.3 on a Windows 7 64b. The whole process took no more than 5 minutes (excluding making the backup).
    Thank you very much for making this.

  • jove

    i am trying to jailbreak with a mac, i turned passcode off and also unchecked encrypt with passcode:
    ——————————————–

    what i see is
    step 1: connecting to device
    step 2: waiting for reboot
    step 3: unexpected error (image error)
    I click reopen button it goes to initial jailbreak page. I click jailbreak Icon it moves repeats steps 1 to 3 again. This happens over and over.

  • Shan

    Worked Perfectly. Thanks Guys.

  • ld

  • Dare

    I had 99 problems until I changed computer. I used win7 64bit. Then I changed to dad’s computer with win7 32bit and everything worked just fine with 11.0.1.12 iTunes and 1.0.7 p0sixspwn. So if you are stuck. Try other computer. And thanks everyone here for sharing your experience and helping others! :)

    i am using win xp2 and i like to jailbreak my iphone 3gs 6,1,3
    using posixpwn 1,0,4
    and it stop at waiting to reboot ,,,,,,,for hours and nothing fallows
    anyone knows how to fix this?

  • B

    I have been completely unable to get this to work. I’m operating on Windows 7, I have followed the posted steps for downgrading iTunes, which fixed the initial issue of being stuck at the waiting for reboot screen. At that point it seemed to be working, got almost to the end and then instead of doing the final reboot, went back to saying it had detected my device and stayed there and my phone is showing no changes. I tried uninstalling and deleting everything again but I’m back to having the p0sixspwn ‘detecting a problem and needing to close’ :/

    • dan

      hi, i had the same problem, did you leave the p0sixspwn file in the folder after extracting it? if you did, that is the problem. you need to drag it out of the folder onto your desktop

  • Kristina Robinson

It says it’s already jailbroken but i don’t have cydia or any of the other “jailbreaking apps” on it. :( Please help me.
