FireCore has provided the following details on their blog:
Today we’re excited to announce the release of new versions of aTV Flash (black) and Seas0nPass that allow for an untethered jailbreak of Apple TV 5.3 (ATV2 only). Big thanks goes out to @iH8sn0w, @winocm, and @SquiffyPwn for their help with the new version of Seas0nPass. Additionally, there has been some encouraging progress made on Apple TV 6.0+ thanks to our friends @evad3rs and @nitoTV, and we hope to have more news available soon.
It looks like Seas0nPass makes use of the exploits used in p0sixspwn, the iOS 6.1.5 – iOS 6.1.3 untethered jailbreak, which was released few days back.
We’re assuming that FireCore is working with evad3rs and nitoTV to release a jailbreak for Apple TV 6.0.1, which is currently the latest software update available for Apple TV.
It also remains to be seen if it will be possible to jailbreak Apple TV 3, which hasn’t been jailbroken ever since it has been launched.
Jailbreaking Apple TV 2 enables users to install aTV Flash (black), which adds new features to the second generation Apple TV such as web browsing, Last.FM access, support for HTML5 video sites, stream media from most NAS devices and lots more.
You can download the latest version of Seas0nPass and find the user guides at seas0npass.com. You can refer to this guide if you need any help in jailbreaking your Apple TV with the latest Seas0nPass.
