Eddy Cue says Apple’s upcoming products are the best in 25 years

Apple’s Senior Vice President of Internet Software and Services was interviewed by Kara Swisher and Walt Mossberg at the inaugural Code Conference earlier today.

Keeping with Apple’s tradition, Cue did not reveal any juicy details about the upcoming product launches, but said that Apple’s upcoming products are the best he has ever seen since joining Apple.

“We’ve got the best product pipeline that I’ve seen in my 25 years at Apple,” Cue told Kara Swisher and Walt Mossberg.

That is certainly a bold statement to make. He however did not provide any details about the new products Apple planned to launch this year, which is not surprising. Apple’s CEO Tim Cook has said several times that the company was “working on some really great stuff”.

Cue talked about the how “the TV experience sucks” but did not provide any details about what Apple plans to do to address it.

“All we have today is glorified VCRs,” Cue said, saying the only big improvement is that now you don’t have to reset the clock when the power goes out.

He highlighted that it was a hard challenge to solve as “One of the problems you have with TV is you have a bunch of disparate systems. It’s a complicated landscape.”

When he was asked about iCloud service, he said it will “continue to play a background role as a “faceless” feature that works seamlessly.”

Apple is yet to launch a major new hardware product this year. It is also unlikely that Apple launch any major new hardware products at next’s week WWDC, which is typically a software centric event.

Apple is widely expected to launch iPhone 6 with larger 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch screens, the next generation iPads, and refreshed MacBook Pros. It is also speculated that it will launch the next generation Apple TV, and long rumored iWatch this year. I can’t wait to find out which new product will eclipse the launch of the iPhone in 2007 and the iPad in 2010.
