Apple today announced that, along with a wide variety of other new platforms for developers to use, third-party keyboards will now be accessible to users in stock iOS 8. Interestingly, although Apple announced their own improved keyboard called QuickType, third-party keyboards are going to be yet another way for users to type on iOS devices.
The keyboard seen in the photo above is Swype, a third-party keyboard that has been available for Android for quite some time.
Since these keyboards are much more deeply integrated with iOS, they won’t have any access to networking capabilities. However, keyboards will be able to ask users for permission to transmit usage information through a familiar pop-up.
