A new report by GforGames now claims that Apple will unveil the iPhone 6 on September 15th, followed by the launch on Thursday, September 25th.
The report cites “inside sources”, but the launch of the new iPhone on a Thursday makes me a little skeptical as Apple has historically launched new iPhone models on a Friday. Last year, Apple launched the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c on Friday, September 20th. It also launched the iPhone 5 in 2012 on Friday, September 21st.
The report also claims that China will be one of the first countries to get the iPhone 6, which won’t be a surprise as China was one of the first countries to get the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c last year. According to the report, the 32GB 4.7-inch iPhone 6 will go on sale in China for 5,288 yuan (approximately $850), which is the current prices of the 16GB iPhone 5s in China. The report also claims that the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 will be called iPhone Air, and will go on sale for 5,998 yuan (approximately $965) alongside the 4.7-inch model.
iPhone 6 is also expected to include Apple’s new A8 processor, Touch ID fingerprint sensor, and an improved 8-megapixel camera. In addition to the obvious difference in display sizes, analysts expect the larger 5.5-inch iPhone 6 to also come with optical image stabilization as one more differentiating feature between the two models. Recent reports also indicate that the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 will be available in only 32GB and 64GB storage options, and the 128GB storage option will be exclusively available only with the larger 5.5-inch model.
MacRumors reports that according to their “sources”, Apple is expected to announce iPhone 6 in early September, followed by the launch later in the month.
Mass shipments of the iPhone 6 from China to the United States are expected to occur during the last two weeks of August and it is likely that Apple will announce the iPhone 6 during the first or second weeks of September. The first deliveries of the device will come later in the month on a corresponding Friday, roughly a week and a half after the event.
It would be consistent with recent iPhone launches.
I am super excited, and can’t wait to get my hands on the iPhone 6. September can’t come soon enough.
