Apple refreshed the MacBook product lineup earlier today with new 13-inch and 15-inch Retina MacBook Pros that feature improved specs. The new Macs have already started showing up in Geekbench benchmark results, revealing gains in single and multi core performance.
The entry level 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro now features a faster 2.2 GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor with Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.4GHz with 16GB of RAM. Its Geekbench score points to an eight percent gain in performance over the entry-level 2013 Retina MacBook Pro, and a two percent gain over the mid-level 2013 Retina MacBook Pro.
The entry-level MacBook Pro’s single core performance was 3050, while multi-core performance came in at 11586.
Today’s refresh brings the performance of 2013 mid-level Retina MacBook Pros to entry-level models. 13-inch models now come in 2.6GHz and 2.8GHz dual core variants, while 15-inch models are available in 2.2GHz and 2.5GHz quad core variants.
