‘Wink’ from Quirky updated, now supports even more smart home appliances

Quirky's Wink smart appliances app

As companies continue to look for ways to make our homes smarter, right down to the lights, the apps that make these smart devices work need to continue to upgrade to support more devices, and broaden functionality. Quirky, which aims to be a hub for all your smart home accessories with their Wink app, has just sent out a new update to make compatibility a little bit easier.

The update to Wink, Quirky’s smart home appliance app, was officially made available through the App Store today. In it comes plenty of tweaks and improvements, but the main draw is support. Wink can now work with smart appliances from companies such as Honeywell, Leviton, Philips, Schlage, Dropcam and more.

If Wink sounds familiar, you may remember it when GE announced their “Link” smart LED light bulbs at the tail-end of June this year. With that announcement, Quirky’s Wink app was put center stage, as it was the app that would control those light bulbs, and let you bask in the glow of a smarter home.

The update to Wink also brings with it a streamlined interface, which should make using the app much easier. You’ll be able to create shortcuts with the new app, as well as be able to automate tasks with multiple devices in your home. You will also be able to monitor and schedule devices right from your mobile device. Quirky does note that many of the smart appliances can connect directly to the Wink app, but some will need the Wink Connected Home Hub, which costs $49.99.

Are you aiming to get your home a bit smarter with these smart appliances?
