While much of the excitement this afternoon is surrounding the announcement of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, alongside the Apple Watch and Apple Pay mobile payments platform, Apple has also briefly mentioned that it will be making available Leather Cases and Silicone Cases for both smartphones alongside their release later this month.
Apple’s website provides some details about each case, starting with the Leather Case. The all-new case is made from premium, hand-crafted leather treated with high-quality aniline dye, designed to fit perfectly over the curved form of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus with color-matched microfiber interior to keep the smartphones protected.
As the case is designed to be form-fitting on the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, it is also very slim and does not add a lot of bulk to either device. The available colors include brown, black, beige, navy blue and red.
Meanwhile, taking a look at the Silicone Case, it is a new custom-fit case that covers the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus while maintaining an incredibly slim form factor. The camera remains protected beneath the case and, like the Leather Case, it has a soft microfiber lining that cushions the entire iPhone. The case has a smooth finish on the outside.
The new Silicone Case will be sold in the following colors: black, sky blue, pink, green, white and red.
In addition to these two cases, Apple also highlighted various Beats headphones and products and other accessories that are or will be available for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus when the smartphones hit the market on September 19th. Apple is accepting pre-orders for the handsets beginning September 12th.
The online Apple Store remains down following the keynote, but both cases will be available through that storefront and in stores imminently.
Keep it locked for more iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus coverage.
