Microsoft today updated the Office for iPad suite of apps with a new option to buy a monthly Office 365 subscription within the app.
Microsoft’s Word, Excel and PowerPoint iPad apps are free to download, but to edit or create new documents, you’ll need an Office 365 subscription. In previous versions of the apps, you could buy the subscription as an In-app purchase, but only annual subscriptions were available.
With this update, Microsoft’s adding monthly options, which let you subscribe to the $9.99/month Office 365 Home plan or the $6.99/month Office 365 Personal plan. Office 365 Home lets you use the Office suite of apps on one iPad and five PCs or Macs, while the Personal plan lets you just it on one iPad and one PC or Mac.

Office 365 Personal is designed to help individuals who want to use Office on one PC or Mac and one tablet, while Office 365 Home is for households with up to five PCs or Macs, plus five tablets.
