As expected, Apple has officially announced their fourth quarter for the fiscal year 2014, closing out the year with another monstrous sum of numbers across the board.

On Monday, October 20, Apple officially announced the Q4 2014, reporting that the Cupertino-based company earned $42.1 billion in total revenue, and a total of $8.5 billion in total profit through the quarter proper:

Apple® today announced financial results for its fiscal 2014 fourth quarter ended September 27, 2014. The Company posted quarterly revenue of $42.1 billion, compared to $37.4 billion reported last quarter; and quarterly net profit of $8.5 billion, or $1.42 per diluted share. These results compare to revenue of $37.5 billion and net profit of $7.5 billion, or $1.18 per diluted share, in the year-ago quarter. Gross margin was 38 percent compared to 37 percent in the year-ago quarter. International sales accounted for 60 percent of the quarter’s revenue.

What’s more, Apple also divulged their breakdowns for specific niche product lines, from the iPhone to the Mac, as their main revenue streams, showcasing that Apple sold:

39.2 million iPhones
12.3 million iPads
5.5 million Macs
2.6 million iPods

As usual, Tim Cook chimed in regarding the results, and the strengths of Apple moving forward:

Our fiscal 2014 was one for the record books, including the biggest iPhone launch ever with iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “With amazing innovations in our new iPhones, iPads and Macs, as well as iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite, we are heading into the holidays with Apple’s strongest product lineup ever. We are also incredibly excited about Apple Watch and other great products and services in the pipeline for 2015.

It is worth noting that while Apple did officially acquire Beats Electronics in mid-2014, Apple’s already made it clear during their previous quarterly earnings call that they will begin including Beats in their reports in 2015. Of course, also worth noting is that Apple released the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus into the world beginning in mid-September.

Apple is hosting a conference call to go over their quarterly results beginning at 2:00pm PST/5:00pm EST.
