HTC took a long hiatus from the tablet market some time ago, but the company has just announced their big, triumphant return with a brand new 9-inch tablet.
Officially announced alongside the brand new Nexus 6 smartphone (from Motorola), the Nexus 9 is a nine-inch tablet from HTC that marks a new, stronger focus from the manufacturer in the tablet market. With the help of Google, the new Nexus 9 tablet aims to bring Android Lollipop (Android 5.0) to a bigger screen for mobile enthusiasts.
The Nexus 9 features an 8.9-inch IPS LCD display, and there’s 64-bit NVIDIA Tegra K1 processor under the hood, clocked at 2.3GHz. On the back, there’s an 8-megapixel camera, with a 1.6MP front-facing shooter on the other side. The new tablet will come in two variants: a 16GB model, and a 32GB option. The battery is measured in at 6700mAh.
Google is also launching a folio keyboard that will magnetically attach to the Nexus 9, offering a large physical keyboard that can set nicely on a lap, offer two different typing angles, and act as a cover when closed up. It will go on sale at some point in the near future, and be sold separately from the Nexus 9.
The new Nexus 9 will go up for pre-order on Friday, October 17. They will officially go on sale beginning November 3.
Apple is expected to announce two brand new tablets on Thursday, October 16, including the iPad Air 2 and the next-generation iPad mini with Retina display.
