The Pangu team earlier today released a jailbreak for iOS 8 — iOS 8.1, surprising everyone. The jailbreak tool, which is Windows only, was soon taken down following reports of photos being lost. The team has now released an updated version of the Pangu 8 jailbreak tool which solves this bug.
According to the website Pangu8 will work with all the iOS 8 – 8.1 compatible devices:
- iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5 and iPhone 4s
- iPad Air 2, iPad Air, iPad 4, iPad 3 and iPad 2
- iPad mini 3, iPad mini 2, 1st gen iPad mini
- 5th generation iPod touch
You can download Pangu jailbreak for iOS 8 – iOS 8.1 from the link below:
The team says that the jailbreak, which provides SSH access, is primarily meant for developers to add iOS 8 support to their apps and tweaks. There’s no Cydia yet, but the team has contacted saurik who will be updated Cydia for iOS 8 soon. There’s no English version of the tool yet, but should be out in a few days. A Mac version is coming, but “not in the near future.”
Normal users are discouraged from jailbreaking their devices until Cydia for iOS 8 is released, but if you do intend to jailbreak, make sure that you have Passcode disabled, and Find my iPhone turned off.
Update: Cydia can be installed manually by following these instructions:
