Saurik declares iOS 8 – iOS 8.1 jailbreak is ‘stable enough’; enables the ability to buy tweaks on Cydia

Jailbreak iOS 8.1

The Pangu jailbreak for iOS 8 – iOS 8.1 may not be ready for prime time when it was released couple of the weeks back, but one must give credit to the Pangu Team and saurik for releasing a series of updates to fix most of the issues.

saurik had disabled the ability to purchase jailbreak apps and tweaks because he believed that iOS 8 – iOS 8.1 jailbreak was not stable enough. However, with the release of Pangu 1.2.1, Pangu Untether 0.4 package, and Cydia 1.1.16 update, he has declared that the jailbreak is “stable enough”.

He has also enabled the ability to buy jailbreak apps and tweaks on Cydia and requested developers to mark their tweaks compatible with iOS 8 – iOS 8.1, so that users with jailbroken iOS 8-iOS 8.1 devices can purchase them from Cydia.

Prior to this users were able to only install tweaks that they had purchased previously in iOS 7-iOS 7.1.x.

With the imminent release of iOS 8.1.1, which kills the Pangu jailbreak, the timing couldn’t have been better. The only thing pending now is, for the Pangu team to release the Mac version of the Pangu jailbreak. They hope to release Pangu jailbreak for Mac in the next couple of days.

As we had mentioned earlier, if you haven’t upgraded to iOS 8.1 yet, then it may be prudent to restore your device to iOS 8.1 if you’re interested in jailbreaking your device in the future.

Have you jailbroken your device on iOS 8 – iOS 8.1? What has been your experience so far.

Do i have to rejailbreak when à stable jailbreak comes out? Or does Cydia solve this with new packages?

    • Fl3mez

You don’t have to re-jailbreak, when you open up Cyrus you will see updates available for you. Just update them and your on the latest, most stable version of Cydia!

My first run at jailbreaking iOS 8.1 on the 128 GB iPhone 6 Plus was ineffective.
I ran Pangu on Server 2008 R2 on a Macbook Pro because it’s what I had available without having to go through a VM on MacOS. I started Pangu 1.2.0 and it started but with the device pluged in it stalled. I had followed the instructions, turned off find my iphone, turned of passcode, turned on airport, and even turn off alto lock screen, and I updated to iOS 8.1 using iTunes not OVA, but i did restore from backup prior to attempting to jailbreak. So it still on first startup with the device plugged in, I restarted pangu again and I got further, and the jailbreak apparently completed, but when the Iphone rebooted, cydia was not present, and the pangu app was broken with the default blank app picture of lines and whatnot, the app did not start. and I couldn’t find cydia, so i tried jailbreak again. This time, the jailbreak went through its processes again, except this time, on the iphone, cydia and pangu both showed up, and the jailbreak worked. I updated cydia and things are running fine. But I am having problems with the camera app as with many others are when they have 60fps option turned on, and switching camera modes, the camera app freezes. There has been some discussions about it already, and turning off the 60fps option seems to keep it from freezing, but what about the future, when apple comes out with an update to fix this problem if its software retaled. I can understand if its hardware and people would need to take back their devices. What about all this talk about the 128GB models having flash or ram problems as it came from samsung and they are having problems with the 840evo SSD’s being related to having too much information or information on the drives too old and causing problems, -sigh- starting to regret buying an Iphone 6, maybe should of waiting for the next generation.

Still haven’t updated my iPad yet because of the incompatibilities of the Cydia tweaks on iOS 8

    Examples : Allmail- Attachments+ – TSPROTECTOR

These are tweaks that I have bought in the past but don’t work on this moment.
