Universal Studios acquires rights to Aaron Sorkin’s biopic on Steve Jobs

Less than a week after Sony unexpectedly dropped Aaron Sorkin’s biopic on Steve Jobs, the movie has been picked up by Universal Studios. 

Reportedly, Universal Studios purchased the rights for the movie for $30 million. According to sources of the Hollywood Reporter, the rights for the movie was purchased by Universal Studios for “more than $30 million.”

Michael Fassbender is reportedly set to depict Steve Jobs in the movie, with Seth Rogen playing Apple’s co-founder Steve Wozniak. Steve Job’s daughter Lisa is also set to star as the “heroine” of the movie and will apparently be casted as Jessica Chastain.

The movie is based on the Walter Isaacson’s biography on Steve Jobs and has been under development since the last two years. It will be directed by Danny Boyle of Slumdog Millionaire’s fame, and will be produced by Scott Rudin, Mark Gordon and Guymon Casady.
