Rumor: ‘iPad Pro’ could come with a Home button on its side [Updated]

Sonny Dickson, the Australian-based blogger, who had leaked parts of the iPhone 5s and iPad Air before it was launched in 2013, has just tweeted that the rumored iPad Pro will come with the Home button on its side, and not the bottom as the current iPads.

This could be a significant change as the Home button has always been below the display in the case of the iPhone and iPad. One reason could be because Apple wants to reduce the size of the device, which is supposed to come with a much bigger 12.9-inch screen compared to iPad Air’s 9.7-inch screen.

I’m assuming that Home button on its side, would mean something like the Power and Volume buttons (not it terms of toggles but the position), though it is not clear how Apple plans to incorporate Touch ID.

According to rumors, iPad Pro could come with a Oxide LCD display, include a USB 3.0 port, faster charging technology, and even come with a stylus.

Recent reports suggest production of the iPad Pro has been delayed from this quarter to the second quarter of 2015 due to poor display yields.

Dickson has said that he will provide more details shortly, so we will keep you posted.

As insane as it sounds, I wouldn’t mind it as it could help make the device smaller, and would be nice if they do the same thing with the iPhones and iPads (iPad mini and iPad Air) as well.

If the iPad Pro is real, do you think you’d buy a tablet with that big of a display? Let us know in the comments.

Dickson has now deleted the tweet, so it could be a hoax.
