Apple is gearing up to refresh its 15-inch MacBook Pro and 27-inch (non 5K) iMac on Wednesday, according to a new report, which cites “reliable sources.” The upgrades are expected to bring Force Touch for the MacBook Pro, as well as processor upgrades with Intel’s latest graphics technology.
Apple has already brought Force Touch to the 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro, along with Intel’s latest, fifth-generation Core chipsets with faster clock speeds and Iris Graphics 6100. And now its bigger brother could be about the get the same treatment.
French blog MacG claims the new 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro will go on sale through the Apple Online Store this Wednesday, May 20. It doesn’t provide any specifications in the report, but we expect the new machine to get the same upgrades as the smaller MacBook Pro.
As for the 27-inch iMac, that’s likely to get fifth-generation Intel Core processors, too, but it’s unclear if it will get any other upgrades.
We were anticipating a 15-inch MacBook Pro refresh soon, with supplies of the current model already becoming scarce. Shipping estimates for high-end models began slipping to 2-3 weeks last week, which is usually an indicator that newer models are incoming.
