While Apple Music is meant to be a hug for all things music, leading some to praise its functionality and library, while also pointing out how confusing it all might be in practice, there’s another facet to the new focus on music from Apple, and that’s Beats 1 Radio. This is Apple’s always streaming, always-on radio network, which will have live DJs curating the music day-in and day-out.
“Beats 1 is a truly global listening experience. It broadcasts 24/7 to over 100 countries from our studios in Los Angeles, New York, and London. No matter where you are or when you tune in, you’ll hear the same great programming as every other listener. Enjoy exclusive interviews, guest hosts, and the best of what’s going on in the world of music.“
Those DJs include Zane Lowe, Ebro Darde and Julie Adengua, which will be posted in different cities across the globe. On top of that, it’s also been confirmed that Beats 1 will also host celebrity guests during programmed blocks, which will include the likes of Dr. Dre, Elton John and others.
Interviews will also be a big focus for Beats 1, with Zane Lowe teasing before the public launch that his first interview will be with popular rapper, Eminem. That interview was expected to arrive on Tuesday, June 30, following the launch of Apple Music, but has now been confirmed to take place on Wednesday, July 1.
That confirmation comes from Apple directly, as the company has published the Beats 1 Radio programming on its official Apple Music Tumblr page, which is available here. On the page, users can find out when major features, like the interview with Eminem, and when specific DJs or guest celebrities will be showcased.
Apple Music has just gone live for those that upgrade to iOS 8.4 on their devices. Are you one that’s trying out the new service now?
