TaiG team, the group of Chinese hackers, released the TaiG jailbreak tool for iOS 8.3 – iOS 8.1.3 yesterday. However, since Cydia Substrate wasn’t compatible with iOS 8.3, most of the jailbreak apps and tweaks were not working.
Since the Cydia Substrate was developed by Jay Freeman aka saurik, the founder of Cydia, we had assumed that he will release the update. But he had later clarified that TaiG will need to update the jailbreak kernel patch to fix the issue with Cydia Substrate.
Cammy H of iDigitalTimes tweeted that TaiG team has informed her that they will be releasing an update for their TaiG jailbreak tool to fix the Cydia Substrate issue later today (Beijing Time [GMT+8]).
We also expect TaiG team to release a Cydia package for TaiG iOS 8.3 – iOS 8.1.3 Jailbreak so users who have already jailbroken their device using TaiG 2.0.0 jailbreak tool can fix the Cydia Substrate issue by installing the package, rather than needing to re-jailbreak their device.
It remains to be seen if the update will also fix issues such as the jailbreak process getting stuck at 20% that had forced some users to downgrade from iTunes 12.1.2 to 12.1.0 as the TaiG team hasn’t acknowledged the issue yet.
We’ll let you know as soon as the update is released.
