iOS 9 introduces a major new feature available for select iPad models which allows users to run apps side-by-side. This seems like an amazing feature but wait until you see an upcoming jailbreak tweak called Mirmir that brings a true multitasking experience on your iPhone.
The tweak which is expected to arrive anytime soon on Cydia allows you to run multiple apps side-by-side and interact with them. While you’re inside an app, you can simply swipe down from the top-left corner of the screen to place it into a resizable floating window.
The new window comes with a gray bar above it that allows you to tap and hold on it to move the window on the screen. A single tap on the bar displays additional options for increasing or decreasing the size of the window as well as switching between landscape and portrait orientations. Interestingly, you can also resize the window by simply pinching it with two fingers.
Mirmir is not limited to a single app only. It allows you to place multiple apps side-by-side and interact with them while working. As you’d expect, the more apps that are running side-by-side, the higher the effect on the performance on your device.
One of the great features of Mirmir is that it comes with a built-in video player. Once you play a video, the entire window turns into a video pane providing a full-on experience for watching movies.
The tweak also comes with a dedicated preferences pane where you can configure its features. You can adjust the size of the default and the minimized window, choose a gesture that invokes the tweak, enable or disable the pinch gesture, hide the Status bar and much more.
Mirmir also supports Activator so you can assign gestures for maximizing or minimizing the window, closing all or the current window, changing the window orientation and much more.
I’m genuinely looking forward to running Mirmir on my iPhone. The tweak is expected to arrive anytime soon on Cydia and comes with a price tag of $3.99.
