Earlier today, Apple released the iOS 9 update for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. Like always, tens of thousands of users trying to update their iOS device right away to iOS 9 have managed to overload Apple’s servers.
This is leading to slow download speeds for many, while, for others, the iOS 9 update is stuck at ‘Update Requested…’ instead of the download actually commencing. This is a feature that Apple introduced with the release of iOS 8 last year to manage the surge in traffic when it releases a major software update. So if your iOS 9 update is stuck at the ‘Update Requested…’ screen, the update should start downloading automatically soon.
As for slow download speeds, there is really not much that you can do here, except wait for the server load to reduce. Since there are millions of iOS devices out there and millions of users will be trying to update their device to iOS 9, this can mean waiting for up to 2-3 days. There are a few alternate solutions that you can try to get the iOS 9 update right away on your iPhone or iPad, but the process is significantly more cumbersome.
- If the iOS 9 update is stuck at “Update Requested” for more than 10 minutes, then you could try restarting your device, and downloading the update again.
- If you’re still having problems then you can try updating your iOS device using iTunes. If you need help, follow our guide:
