Battery life comparison: iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus with previous generation iPhones

Battery life is one of the most important factors when buying a smartphone. Until last year, one of the biggest gripes about Apple’s iPhone had been its battery life.

But thanks to the bigger iPhones, Apple was able to include bigger batteries in iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, and the same applies to the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus unveiled on September 9.

While we have compared the tech specs of iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus with the previous generation iPhones, we thought we should do just a battery life comparison to help you make a more informed decision if battery life is an important factor.

As you can see in the comparison table above, if you have an iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus then the new iPhones’ battery won’t last longer. iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus offer the same battery life as previous generation iPhones. In fact, to include sensors for 3D Touch, iPhone 6s comes with a slightly smaller battery, but thanks to the improved power efficiency of the A9 chip, Apple has managed to offer the same battery life as the iPhone 6.

iPhone 6s Plus offers up to 20% improvement when it comes to internet use (LTE) over the iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c and also the 6th generation iPhone 5. If you use Internet use over 3G, then the improvements are a lot more, and you could get improvements of as much as 50% over the iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c and iPhone 5, and 100% over the iPhone 4S.

If you’re upgrading from an iPhone 5s or older iPhone, and if battery life is your biggest concern then you should get the iPhone 6s Plus, assuming you can rock the bigger screen.
