Despite the fact the iPad Pro is the most capable iPad to date, and jam-packed with a ton of features and high-end specifications, one noteworthy feature is missing.
When Apple unveiled the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, it did so with the inclusion of what Apple calls the M9 coprocessor. With this, the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus feature support for always-on “Hey Siri” voice commands. Previously, the iPhone, or iPad, had to be plugged in to have the voice command, which activates the digital personal assistant without having to press a button, function correctly.
Thanks to the M9 coprocessor in the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, though, Apple said the voice command could be used at any time, plugged in or not. Unfortunately, it looks like that’s only part of the equation to make the feature work, though. As noted in a new report, the M9 coprocessor is indeed installed with the A9X chipset in the iPad Pro, but the big tablet doesn’t support the always-on voice command.
For those that want to use “Hey Siri” with the iPad Pro, they’ll have to make sure to have the tablet plugged in. Otherwise, the always-on feature still remains an iPhone 6s exclusive.
Is this one feature that you would have liked to have seen in the iPad Pro?
