Fiat Chrysler Automobiles confirms Apple CarPlay support coming to some Chrysler, Jeep, and Dodge vehicles

Apple CarPlay has been getting a lot of attention recently, including finally getting support within some of Ford’s upcoming vehicles.

That trend continues as the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles group has recently announced that it, too, will be supporting Appel’s in-car system in some of its future vehicles. These will include models under the Jeep, Dodge, and Chrysler banners manufactured in 2016. These models will boast the Uconnect system within, which includes a touchscreen that measures in at 8.4 inches.

The CarPlay system will be used through that 8.4-inch touchscreen and the FCA’s Uconnect, letting users interact with the system’s built-in features, while also giving them the ability to access their text messages, navigation, and even Siri while on the go.

“Apple CarPlay: Apple CarPlay provides drivers with a smarter, safer way to use an iPhone inside a car. Apple CarPlay seamlessly integrates an iPhone with the car’s built-in display and controls in addition to featuring Siri voice control. Now drivers can make phone calls, access music, send and receive messages, get directions optimized for traffic conditions and more while staying focused on the road.”

It’s certainly good news for CarPlay, which has recently seen a lot of adoption all at once from a variety of different manufacturers.
