Facebook introduces birthday video cam to let you send your friends 15-second birthday greetings

Facebook Birthday video cam

Facebook has started rolling out a new birthday video cam feature inside its app that allows one to record a 15-second video to wish their friends on their birthday.

Birthday video cam — as the feature is known — will automatically show up on the profile of your friends on their birthday. Simply tap on it and you can then record your 15-second message to wish them on their birthday. You can also spice up your video message by adding birthday-themed frames that can be accessed by swiping on the video viewfinder.

By introducing Birthday video cam, Facebook is hoping to make sure that your “Happy Birthday” wishes to someone becomes more interesting, which will be a small step towards its plan of converting the News Feed into a personalised video channel.

Facebook’s Birthday video cam only seems to be available for iOS devices for now, with no word from the social networking giant on when it will be available for Android.

Tip: Audio is disabled by default while playing back videos on Facebook, so keep that in mind while wishing your loved ones on their birthday.
